The fan needs to be replaced or repaired. You'd better take it to the repair shop to check the power of your laptop. Overheat will cause many problems, and damage your motherboard.

The fan is reasonably easy to repair(its only a magnectic coil rotor) and is usually clogged not broke.but ur problem seems to be a power issue on the main board.which;if you dissassemble yourself and take the board to a electronic repair shop it wont cost much but if you dont have the confidence for this and you need to take the whole pc then it will cost because the dissassembly of the pc is time consumeing

I have a compaq Presario V2000 and the fan has stopped working also. It will cost too much money to fix it, and I dont know enough about laptops to fix it myself.

I have solved the overheating problem by buying a laptop cooler pad.

I think your computer is really a problem existing, and you should go to the HP after-sales store to solve this problem completely not fix it by yourself.

If you want decrease the temp. of the computer, it's better to buy a cooler pad for your computer soon.

Sure there might be some problem with the fan
because if will not the system will shut due to the overheating
there must be a problem that the fan will be full dust ....
plz first try it by cleaning the fan .....

The fan most likely needs to be replaced. When the computer overheats as a safety feature it shuts down. If you do not know how to replace the fan take it into a repair shop. The does not seem to be the problem.

How can i change the CMOS battery of my Laptop Compaq Presario V2000?

Here is the location of the appropriate Service Manual - you will have to partially disassemble your computer to reach the battery and replace it.

It is normal for the power light to be off if the battery is removed. Are you able to use the computer at all?

Screen is black, but fan runs. Then computer cuts

This most often means you have a bad cpu or motherboard. When the bios does its post checks it looks for issues and will shut the pc down if all the devices are not funtioning correctly or the CPU reaches critical heat.

My hp presario v2000 battery/fan does not work

Viruses will not cause these symptoms....
First of all, do not keep running the laptop in that fashion, the CPU will overheat and die on the unit. Have it serviced for the fan problem. The circuit that controls the battery also may be bad. In any case , you need to have it serviced.

Compaq Presario v2000 having problems powering on

hi!

i'd say first try a known working ac adapter and if that Working AC adapter works and the system detects the battery well, then it could be the ac. If not then try to borrow a working battery to get your final conclusion. if the working battery still doesnt work properly, then it could be the system motherboard. If battery and ac adapter (working) are not available, then check the BIOS and see if it really doesnt detect the battery. try flashing the BIOS and still if that fails, then replace the battery.

hope this helps!

Regards,

Karlox

1) Unplug the laptop. 2) Press and hold down the standby switch under the lid in the upper left hand side of the laptop while pressing down the power key. You should have full power startup now. Let me know if it worked..
