Frigidaire microwave won't start when door is closed. It looks like the door does not latch properly. It worked 20 minutes ago and last night. How do you troubleshoot and/or fix the switches.

Hello Scott Noble - If I was in your position, I personally will recommend consulting a certified technician first for an accurate diagnosis. Depending on what part(s) is damaged from the door, the microwave could possibly have faulty switches, door switches, or latch which only a professional can repair.

Door latch

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Open Lever If the microwave door won't open the open lever might be broken. This part can be replaced separately.

Door Spring If the microwave door won't open the door spring may have broken. The door spring is located inside the door and keeps downward pressure on the door hook.

Door Latch If the microwave door won't open the door latch might be broken. The door latch is inside the microwave. The door hook, which is part of the door, engages with the latch to keep the door closed during operation. If the door latch or actuator breaks the door may not open.

Door Hook If the microwave door won't open the door hook might not be releasing properly. The door hook is installed inside the door and normally releases when the door is opened. The hook is made of plastic and will break over time. When this happens it will need to be replaced, it can't be repaired.

Button Spring If the microwave door won't open the button spring might be broken internally. The button spring can be replaced.
Button If the microwave door won't open the button might be broken internally. The button can be replaced.

Handle Actuator If the microwave door won't open the handle actuator might be broken. This is a plastic part which can become brittle over time. This part is connected between the door button and the door latch assembly.

The locker (latch) on my microwave broke. We just got the replacement part in the mail. Sears says we should be able to replace it ourselves. I see no screws to get inside the door. Does the plastic flange...

If there are no screws to hold the inside door cover in place then they are probably using snap or lock in tabs around the edges to hold it
in place. You will have to disassemble the door to replace the door latch. ----------
Its a latch spring assembly.-------- Click this link below and follow the door lock latch replacing procedure:---- http://technoanswers.blogspot.com/2011/07/how-to-replace-door-lock-latch-on.html ------------------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Error code F9 and lock on computer On Maytag gas range.model mgr587bdb.

The F9 error code refers to the door latch. The problem seems to be with the latch motor or a switch associated with the motor. If I am reading your question correctly you say that it would not unlatch and then upon resetting it unlatched but the oven won't work and you still get the error code. If so try resetting again but have someone come out to check it out or you will continue to have this problem.

The F9 indicates one of two possible problems. One you have already done and the other is the door lock mechanism. If the lock mechanism got stuck in between the lock and unlock neither switches on the lock mechanism are closed. This could be caused by a post on the lock mechanism that has failed.

I just looked up the part for the door lock and it is no longer available, with no other source for the part.

So I guess I would suggest having a technician come out and see if he can see if the lock mechanism can be fixed so the oven will work but you will no longer have the clean cycle working.
They may or may not want to do this for you, but you could use a local service company and they may be able to make it so you can use your oven.

I hope this helps (remember to rate and comment this answer).

Frigidaire wall bake oven (door opens with hinges on left) won't unlock after cleaning. Turned current off and back on with no results. Fan runs as in cleaning cycle, but door won't open.

If after self cleaning cycle the over door is not getting open. Then in some cases the door latch gets locked and this latch stops functioning so the door does not get open.In this case the front door assembly has to be disassembled and the door latch,it has to be manually triggered/pushed by a screw driver or any such object. So the door latch releases the door to get open. Then refit the parts and check,if the door latch is not functioning as it should be.Then the door latch assembly has to be replaced. After self cleaning, many a times the door latches gets overheated and its connections gets short internally. This is noticed by many other users too.In some cases door latch just gets blocked and triggering it with screw driver, makes it function properly. So disassemble the door and see the condition of door latch. This will help you to decide whether its just locked or got faulty.------------If its got faulty and you require door latch part, then you can get it from the online sites like www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect site.

Microwave, adora, stopped heating

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Almost always, on most microwave including GE Adora, no heat with all else working indicates a problem with the magnetron. Since the magnetron produces high RF energy and operates on high voltage, it would be to your advantage to seek the services of a qualified professional.

If on the other hand, the fault of no heat is coupled with no display, error messages, door not locking, no light, then it would be possible for a DIY (do-it-yourself) repair. All that is required is a bit of familiarity with electronic components and circuitry, the use of a DVM/VOM of course safe working practices when repairing electrically powered devices.

Pls post back any other symptoms or indicators other than 'no heat'.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
