There is a reception issue which is usually caused by a defective antenna, logic board or a software issue. I assume you did a hard reset ? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20060911154652AA2eNmB. If you did, then there is really no way you can troubleshoot this on your own if Navman doesn't want to help you you're gonna have to go to a third party. I know of one gps repair shop that will diagnose for a small fee, so at least you know what wrong with it.

The antenna may be unplugged. You can check by removing the SD card, carefully unscrewing the four screws from the back of the device and then running your fingernail (NOT a screwdriver) around the seam on the case to split the two halves. The antenna is the small hinged panel on the back of the receiver, it plugs into a computer board on the inside of the receiver. Look inside for a gold colored connector, it should be plugged into one of the boards, if it is not then that's your problem, you need to plug it back into the board and you should be in good shape.

Maps

I think the best solution, due that it is a non upgradeable model by the official site, you can unlock and install another software.
I have the IGO and goes terrific

My navman icn 510 is always on SIM

Your Navman is in Demonstration mode and is demonstrating a route that you have set up. It should be flashing SIM alternately with the time taken on the route so far.
If you don't want the 'Demonstrator' to operate, you can turn it off. See your manual. If you have not got one, you can download it from the Navman site.
I only have the iCN510 and I have to go to the main Menu screen, tap 'Route Information', then Cancel Route to cancel the current demonstration.
To turn off Route Demonstrator from Main Menu icon_arrow.gif Settings icon_arrow.gif Routing icon_arrow.gif next screen icon_arrow.gif Untick 'Demonstrate Route. icon_wink.gif

Navman icn510 gps reciever problem

How long are you waiting and are you moving while it is trying to acquire signal? These receivers are using older circuitry that may take up to 20 minutes to first acquire a signal from a cold start. If you are moving it may take longer!!! The good news is that after you have initially acquired a location, if you turn the unit off it will only take a minute or so to reacquire after it has "warmed" up.

GPS reception

Navman in no longer offering map support for it's iCN 510. This means if there is a new road or community, this unit will not recognize it.
I am really mad about this. I spent $400 2 years ago for something that will not have anymore map updates. Here is there reply when I wrote to them about it. Class action suit anyone?

Dear Henry,

Thank you for contacting Navman Technical Support.

We do apologize for the inconvenience. Navman has decided not to release further map updates for these device due to changes in technology over the last year. We have changed the chipset1.gif and software1.gif platform and are unable to update this device. The Navman 500 series was released with an updated map version last 2005.

If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us, we'll be more than happy to help.
Kind regards,
Ofelia
