ICOM IC0M36 receives for about 10 seconds and then nothing. I turned it off and back on and still nothing. What could be the issue. I had not used it for a few months, and initially it worked fine, but then started acting up.

I have the radio tuned to marine weather. When I turn it on, it will receive for about ten seconds and then stop. When it first started happening, it would receive for about 10 seconds and then stop. Five minutes later or so, it would receive again, and then stop. I left it on to run the battery down and recharged. Now when I turn the radio on, I get the 10 seconds and then nothing. Again, this is an ICOM IC-M36 handheld radio. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend cleaning the contacts on the battery AND on the radio. Scrub the contacts with Contact cleaner in can, or denatured alcohol, or a soft pencil eraser. All work pretty well seperately. Just depends on what you have available.

ICOM IC-R6 is scanning very slow. 1 frequency in 2 second, not 100 frequencies in 1 second. Where is problem ? How to change speed of scanning in IC_R6 ?

The Fix

Programming via CS-R6 with Windows 10 made the problem. Scanning was very slow.

The CS-R6 program through Windows 10 made problems with the scanning speed - it became very slow, one frequency in 2 seconds instead of 100 frequencies in one second.

Through programming CS-R6 on Windows 7, the scanning speed returned to the corresponding one in the ICOM instructions - 100 frequencies per second

I find it difficult to read a particular station on my Icom 718 HF Base Transceiver.

IS this a frequency issue? A modulation issue? You dont have enough information on the problem. The radio receives other signals fine? What is the frequency and mode?

Hi there! My name is Kimberly and I form part of the Social Media Department with DISH. It is my pleasure to assist you. Please reset the receiver by unplugging it from the wall for 10 seconds. After 10 seconds please plug the receiver back in, allow it to power back on by itself, it will acquire signal and download the guide. If issue persists and you currently have the receiver's power cord connected to a surge protector, please by pass the surge protector and connect the cord directly to a wall outlet. If issue persists after performing this steps please email me at: [email protected] for further assistance. You can also contact us directly at: 1800-333-3474.

While receiving the receiver cuts out momentarily approximately every 10 seconds

This sounds like you have the "Weather Alert" function turned on. With this on, the radio will check for an emergency signal on the weather channels about every 10 seconds.

White screen

I had the same problem with my Pioneer Inno Gex-Inno2BK XM radio receiver. One evening while leaving work, I gently took it out of the cradle & the screen suddenly went completely blank & all white. I could still hear music but there was no screen visible. Solution is this: (1) Gently remove the back cover which covers the battery. (2) Gently remove the dark blue square battery which is only about 1 inch (width) by 3/4 inch (height) by 1/4 of an inch in thickness. I removed mine by holding the receiver upside down & gently shaking it with one hand until the battery came out into my other hand. After about 4 or 5 gentle shakes, it came out. (3) Wait about 10 seconds. (4) Place battery back into XM radio receiver being careful to line the copper power receptable on the battery with a corresponding surface inside the receiver. Each copper area is only about 1/10 of an inch by 1/10 of an inch. Use this as a guide when putting the battery back in to make sure it's lined up properly. (5) Gently slide the cover back in place & let it snap into place. (6) Turn receiver back on by pushing power button like normal. (7) XM receiver should boot up with a full display just like new. All recorded songs are still in place. Nothing has been lost. Problem solved. Root cause of problem is probably some type of boot-up issue with the receiver in which the battery (i.e., the power supply) just happened to be slightly ajar...which also persisted even when placing the receiver back in the cradle until the above steps were taken. The steps above worked beautifully for me...Hope it works for you as well! Have A Great Day...Tom Armstrong

ICOM IC-A23 CL-ERR Problem

My neighbor just had this problem so I delved into it and fixed it.

You will need another working radio and the cloning cable.

DO NOT GO BUY ONE FOR 23 BUCKS PLUS SHIPPING!!!!!!!

This cable is nothing more than the same one you use to pipe your MP3 player into a car's AUX input.
You either have one or know someone who does that you can borrow.
If not go buy one from Sears ,Best Buy or any decent truck stop should have them for about ten bucks.

Turn both radios off.
Now with the 3.5 mm cable plugged in to both radios hold down the up and down arrow buttons and turn them on.
They should say "clone".
Now press the" ENT" on the good radio,
This will send the data over to the "bad" radio.
Now turn them both off, remove the cloning cable and turn them back on.
Both should be working now.
\WARNING if your battery is in bad shape it can cause the problem to come back. Either deep six the battery or hit the battery for a few seconds with your car battery charger to shock the cells.
Some times this can extend the battery's life.

Good luck!!

I have the RX - V3000 Model. It turns on for a second and immediately turns off.

I had the same issue and tried changing inputs and etc. within a second of time. Nothing I did worked until, I opened the lower front access door and twisted the effects knob around quickly. This stopped it from turning off and it has been functioning normally since. Even turning it off and on again is without the issue coming back. I did try most all the buttons previous to doing the effects knob, in case that makes a difference in the long-run.

Before the issue you are having started on the unit I was working on, the owner of this unit did say he was having an issue earlier with the monitor SVideo jack in back, having a role in it powering off like this, about 6 months ago. To make it work then, he would remove the SVideo cable from the monitor jack, turn on the unit and then put back the SVideo cable once the unit was on and working. This allowed it to work for several weeks to a month before turning itself off again. He would repeat this procedure and it would work fine again for awhile.
Could be an electrical or grounding issue via SVideo that messed things up more and more?

Hope this works for you too!!

ICOM GP-360ML GPS Receiver

I had this problem about a year ago. If all you need is the firmware update they will update it at no charge and they told me if it needs repairs they most likely will not have the parts becaus it is a discontinued model. They also said they did checked it and found no other problems. Sent it in to Icom:
Icom America
2380 116th Ave NE
Bellevue WA 98004
They did the firmware update and sent it back to me free of charge. It works great now and my chart cards work great.
