Almost all cd and dvd or bluray drives have a manual way of opening. Usually it is a small opening to the right of the button to open the drive. Make sure the system is OFF to try this. Just straighten a paper clip and insert it in the opening and give it a small push. The door should manually slide open.

How do i get the computer to open the cd tray?

You can manually open the CD tray with a straighten paper clip.
There is a tiny hole below the tray, push the paper clip into this hole and the tray will pop out slightly. You can then grab this tray and pull it out all the way.

Cd/dvd drive

You can see a hole located on the tray of the cd rom drive. Commonly seen beside the button to eject the cd out. Grab a small pin and push the hole and this should eject the tray. Close the tray again by pressing the button. Eject it using the button. If everything still failed, call up Dell to have the CD Rom Drive replaced.

If the drive door sticks after you have used the paper clip to open it, look under the tray at the drive teeth (if any). Apply a liberalm coating of general purpose grease to the rwo inches of teeth at the end of the drive tray nearest you and close the drive door again. Open and close a few times to see if the door is now free. This worked for me on my Dell Inspiron 3100. Try it.
