If you follow that link Mike gave you for the wrench to remove the blade assembly on that same page is also the blade assembly complete with bearings. That's the only way Vitamix sell the bearings, complete with blades. Some folks have pulled the old blade assembly apart and purchased and fitted aftermarket sealed bearings, if you search for previous answers here you will find the post. If you are up to the task you can make a great saving.

Why is my vitamix leaking?
Probably the bearings in the blade assembly are wrecked, replace the blade assembly with a new genuine part. Someone here has fitted aftermarket bearings but I do not know how much gear they required to do the job. Search onsite for solutions may reveal more

Vitamix TNC 60 oz container leaks when in use. how to replace seal and or bearings?
If it is not the HUGE blade retaining ring under the beaker a bit loose then you will be buying new parts to repair it. The only other possibilities are beaker cracked and leaking (new beaker) or bearings & seals worn (new blade & bearing assembly)

High pitched noise with use
The problem was the seal was worn, allowing liquid to seep past into the top blade shaft bearing washing out the grease and ruining the bearing. The "noise" you heard was the bearing running without any lubrication. Both bearings and the seal needed to be replaced but I have not found a source for purchasing these. Vita-Mix Company does not sell parts, they sell units (outrageously priced units)!

The blade in my Super 5000 wet container turns very stiffly.Should I take it off and lubricate it? There also seems to be water visible under the bottom of the container.
Stiff or stuck blade problems can be fixed by replacing the two bearings and seal inside the blade assembly. Care must be taken in installing the new bearings as not to damage them. Ideally they should be pressed in, on a press, but they can carefully be tapped in using a sockets to match inner and outer races so your not tapping on the balls.

Suddenly my blender is VERY LOUD!
Had this happen twice before. The bearings in the blade area are going. We figured that in our dishwasher the heated water pools on the top by the bearings and as it cools water is brought in contact with the bearings and they rust. We have used penetrating oil to put a pool of oil around the bearing shaft and store it like that. Still noisy but cheaper than buying the replacement. Hand wash the blender to avoid this happening to your new one if and when you replace it.

You can replace the Osterizer "Standard Blade Assembly" (which includes a new rubber gasket) without buying a new and expensive glass jar. See http://www.householdappliance.com/blenderparts.html or one of the other appliance repair parts websites. After 20 years of use, it's time for a new blade and bearing.

My Vitamix Vita Prep 3 high function isn't working completely? The blender works fine with the variable speed, but when switched to high it barely goes any faster. Does this mean the motor is about to go out? Is the PCB not working correctly? Or can I order a new switch with new wiring? These blenders are used in a high volume smoothie/juice bar and the warranties are no longer valid therefore we are repairing them ourselves. Any troubleshooting tips and help are GREATLY appreciated.

When I turn the Vitamix Vita Prep 3 "On" with the switch set to "Variable speed" it starts on "High" when the variable speed control knob is set to 1. Which switch/part do I need to replace? I cleaned the outside/crevices of "variable & high function" switch, but it still seems a little sticky when moving the switch up & down making me think that its stuck in the "High" position even when its set to "Variable" This blender comes from a high volume smoothie & juice bar. All the warranties have now expired on our blenders therefore we are trying to troubleshoot and fix the blenders ourselves. I'm new to working on blenders, but am confident I can replace switches and motors in blenders coming from an automotive background, Any help is greatly appreciated.
