Brother 950/980: On copy or transmit they may produce black pages. Prone to bad scanner (CCD). Brother may provide a replacement CCD at no charge to the original owner. Sometimes leaving the unit unplugged for a few hours will solve the problem temporarily.
Brother HL600 series laser printer toner will work in the laser fax & multifunction machines (part number TN100HL = TN100PPF). Drum units may be interchangeable as well (?).
Brother 1350/1550/1950: Problem: Record paper jams. Solution: Replace upper shoot. P/N UF6058001. Although there seems to be nothing causing the jam, the upper shoot gets stress marks on the ends. Replace even though it is not broken.
Thermal Transfer Machines: Only one side of the page is printing. Caused by the printhead latch being cracked. The latch is blue in color there is one on each side of the printhead, replace both latches

Error 76 is fuser error, you need to change the fuser but first just in case try to reset settings to factory defaults.

SOURCE: paper jam in brother MFC 240C
Usually small pieces of paper are jammed at the print head area. Lift up the scanner and see if you can find the paper at the print head parking area, clear the paper . If you can't find the paper, remove the scanner cables, then the scanner. You will see 2 screws at the rear and one near the USB connection. Another 3 screws towards the front will remove the front panel. Under the panel remove 4 screws and the two panel harnesses. The is a speaker harness which you must remember to attach back later (most people don't remember to put back). Lift up the top cover and you can see the whole engine. Clear any pieces of paper that might be there.
Caution
Do not stand the machine on end. Ink may leak from the machine.
The PE Actuator looks like a 2 prong fork or tuning fork and is
located near the rear center of the machine where the paper tray slides
in. It is located between the 2 gray rollers.
The message Paper Jam may
appear on the display if the Brother machine is not feeding paper
correctly, paper scraps have become stuck in the print head path, the
paper is not loaded properly in the paper tray, the jam clear cover
located in the back of the machine, is not installed properly or the PE
Actuator is missing or damaged.
