Screen goes dark at random times

Usually caused by 1 of 3 issues:
1. Backlight in screen failing
2. Inverter board failing
3. Loose connectors or cracked wires from motherboard to screen.

To rule out other motherboard related issues, connect an external monitor and see if it functions properly.

Replacing a laptop screen is usually fairly easy - and instructions can be found easily on the internet. Use care, and don't force parts apart. Taking your time and exercising considerable patience will bring a successful repair.

Instructions, and parts, can be found easily on the Internet by searching for "<my laptop make and model> screen replacement".

If you're not comfortable doing this yourself, numerous local computer repair shops provide this service - or you can send the computer to repair services available on the Internet.

Does the dark side have a well defined straight vertical edge or is it ragged and blurry.
Is the picture still visible in the dark area, or has the picture disppeared and there's this darkness that has taken over.
I'm thinking that the optics may have been jolted. Has the unit suffered any impact or the like.

Hi i have a new DeLonghi Dragon 3 heater. The timer seems to work opposite to your instructions - i.e. the instructions indicate that the notches must be pushed to the outer ring to indicate the operating...

This is from the instruction manual online:

To set the heating periods proceed in the following manner:

- Check the time by your watch. Supposing it is 10.00 a.m. turn the numbered dial of the

time-clock in a clockwise direction until the number 10 coincides with the reference mark s

on the time-clock. Set the time period during which you wish the appliance to work by

pushing the notches towards the centre. Each notch corresponds to a period of 15 minutes.

At this point sections will be visible corresponding to the working periods.

Set in this way the radiator will function automatically every day during the set period.

(Important: the plug must remain connected to power supply).

- To change the programmed time period, just bring back the black notches to their original

position and set the new working periods required.

- If you wish the appliance to function without programmed working periods push all the notches

towards the centre. In this case, to turn the appliance off totally the plug must be pulled
out apart from switching off, so as to avoid unnecessary working of the timer.

this problem seems to have corrected itself although the dark patch at the top of the set is still present.

I cannot think of anything in particular that i may have done to fix it but i have resorted to turning the TV off using the on/off switch after using the remote. Other than that i removed/replaced the bulb.

so far, it is 3 weeks and counting since i last had any problems.

Lcd tv sets are lit by small glass florescent tubes called cold cathodes and, are powered by: ballasts called inverters... these go out just like your office florescent lighting the parts can be purchased online from electronic parts houses and, are easily replaced

Screen problem Hp dv1000

The main two causes for this, are the inverter, which supplies the screen with the proper amount of power in order to function correctly, or the screen. If the inverter isn't puting out enough power it will cause the screen to darken or black out completely. Start by checking the screen connections. If all the connection are properly seated, the it's either the inverter or the screen it self.
