Win XP Pro SP3 Explorer.exe problems

My laptop hangs on explorer.exe. Drive light stays on solid. Occasionally, I can get Taskmanager to stop the process (explorer.exe) then open a new instance of it. Most of the time everything just hangs and I have to turn the computer off and restart.

Hi there, Start your computer in SAFE Mode, by pressing the F8 repeatedly, then scan you pPC for any viruss infections, scan for spyware too...

Restart your PC normally, see if it worked, otherwise do a repair on your machine, using the origanal windows disk, be carfull not to format it, as you will lose your data,

Let me know if you need any further help regarding this problem

Cheers,
Please be so kind just to rate this solution at the end...

For All XP user Don't Use IE 7.0 & higher version

Applicable for all window XP (all edition, all PCs and Laptops)

Hi there,
If you are getting trouble after the updates of internet explorer..

Then I would suggest you to Roll Back it to the original Internet Explorer (i.e Internet Explorer version 6.0)

Which come up with Installation of Win Xp with Service Pack 2.

Bad Effect due to IE 7.0 or higher version:

Screen hang up, internet freezes abruptly, prominent windows crashes anytime.

So to stop these problems, better to run with lower and safe version of IE:

To remove Internet Explorer 7 from your PC use the following methods

Method 1: Use "Add or Remove Programs" to uninstall Internet Explorer 7

Step 1: Use "Add or Remove Programs" to uninstall Internet Explorer 7

a. Click Start, and then click Run.

b In the Open box, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.

c. In the list of programs, click Windows Internet Explorer 7, and then click Remove.

d. Follow the wizard instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer 7. Also remove if any updates under this entry found.

If you cannot uninstall Internet Explorer 7 by using this method, try Method 2.

Method 2: Use Spuninst.exe to uninstall Internet Explorer 7

Run Spuninst.exe to uninstall Internet Explorer 7

a. Click Start, and then click Run.

b. In the Open box, type %windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe, and then click OK.

c. Follow the wizard instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer 7.

After you uninstall Internet Explorer 7, double-click the Internet Explorer icon to verify that Internet Explorer 6 is restored.

This will bring up you to run Internet explorer as it come up with the installation kit, which is safe and reliable.

just get into safe mode by pressing f8 , then click the command prompt from the start menu or if you dont get the start menu press ctrl+alt+del key to get the task manager and go to file and click new task run the command prompt from there. Then in the command prompt type sfc scannow it will ask for the win xp cd for xp and for vista or 7 it automatically scans and fixes the system file errors.Let me know if still the errors are there.

Xp pro sp3-after running macfee quick clean. on boot-explorer.exe "the application failed to initialize properly 0xc0150002"

Issue may be a corrupt explorer.exe (The file that actually launches the desktop). There is a lot of discussion on how an AV an bork explorer.exe here and several solutions.

The one I recommend you try 1st is: Fire up the task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC), File, new task, cmd and then c:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe from the command prompt (edit the command if you didn't install windows in c:\windows). See if system restore can rescue explorer for you.
If that doesn't work, there are several other flavors of repair possibilities, last of which is reinstalling Windows

Windows explorer not initiated at startup and hangs the system,

I had this XP problem with Norton recent after SP3 got on.
Clean install and no antivirus, straight afterwards a bootable CD with SP3 then I replace already removed Norton with Avast virus scanner.
Superfast, all problems I ever had gone. Likely the scanner.
