Im having a simlar problem. i figured before i buy a new screen, ill swap the top and bottoms ones, just to see. with the old top screen on the bottom, i still get the "bar code" effect. ive checked all the ribbon cables, and dont see any tears. the ribbon from the top to bottom was just replaced, and its in good condition. any fix for this at all??
Hi I have a problem with my bottom screen as well. I was replacing the case as the hinge was broken. When i was putting it back together i noticed a slight tear in the ribbon cable which is attached to the board and the bottom screen. When I turned it on I found I had poor colour and contrast in the bottom screen however the top screen was fine. Where this ribbon cable is attached to the board there is two small cables attached to the board beneath it, maybe one of these has come away and needs repositioning or your bottom screen needs replacing.Try this site for diy tipshttp://site.powergamingparts.com Cheers Chris

i found a REALLY easy solution! the most likley problem is that there is dust in the GBA/DS game card slot! it corrupts the connectors (i dont want 2 explain how it gets into the system) so step one: wrap a small peice of tissue around the stylus(make sure DS is turned ON)
step two: LIGHTLY go inside the GBA/DS slot with the tissue wrapped stylus.
step three: shut down DS system and turn on again
problem solved! hope this helps.
The connection to the lower screen is probably a bit broken. If you feel up to it you could take your DS apart using a tri winged screwdriver (can be bought from www.whitedog.co.uk/catalog/nintendo-wing...) and check the connections or you could just send it in for repair.
