Would you mind telling us, what it is that's broken. Did the lcd physically broke (i.e. in serveral pieces)? In that case, you have to replace it. Did it just stay black? Could you check (with a bright lamp) whether you can see a hint of a little, then? If so, the backlight has gone bad. If not, or if you can see it lighting up on start, but it stays black, it might be the connector... If the screen itself works, but the touch part of the touchscreen does not, look around here, there's a solution in a thread called "HTC touch pro... touch screen has stopped working".
There is connecting wire between lcd board and camcorder main board that seems broken, needs to be replaced. Let me know model number of camcorder to find out part number info of flexible wire. Thanks.
LCD is inside the front glass that has logo of htc
the upper glass is called touch panel or digitizer it is working as u say but lcd is broken u can see visible cracks on it and it may partially display or not at all then ur lcd is broken by pressure or impact u need to get it replaced around like 100-150 dollars depends on the model and size of the lcd screen
yes you can take the glass out but leave the plastic that protects the screen. but remember your touch screen wont work if the glass is not replaced which can be a bit expensive
I agree your screen is cracked. It's smooth to the touch because you're not actually touching the LCD section of the screen, just the protective coating. The advantage of owning an LCD TV over plasma... you can replace the screen either by going to the manufacturer or some place like e-bay. It's not a difficult thing to do if you take your time and pay attention to the details.
Touch screens are even more expensive that straight LCD panels. This repair may cost more than the original monitor. Why do you need another panel? Is the panel cracked or is the touch screen portion not working correctly?
