If you cannot gently push it in while powering the unit on (the unit tries to pull in the zoom lens). You need to open the unit. You need proper philips screwdrivers (PH0-PH1) and even smaller to open the unit and see if the situation can be remedied. A plastic pry tool is great if available, (one example below).

  • The zoom lens is usually operated by small plastic gears that break easily and replacements are hard to find.
  • The unit is usually a sandwich construction, that has a lot of small components. Needing a lot of skills to get it back together and working.
  • The issue might be elsewhere if the unit doesn't power on, etc.

Remove the lens from the camera, set MF on the lens, try gently to free it by hand. If this works, clean the contacts on the lens and camera body - if not, it needs repair.

Lens stuck

If the battery is fully charged, and you are able to turn on the camera but only the lens wont come out, then try doing this:

1. Hold the camera from your right hand with the lens facing down.
2. Hit the base of the camera to your left palm as you press the ON button to turn on the camera. Do this a couple of times until the lens comes out.

Chances are, your camera's lens is stuck inside because of some granule of sand or dirt stuck on the sides of the lens inside. Goodluck!

Lens stuck and screen saying lens eror

Try jiggling the lens. Use compressed air to blow out any grit around the lens barrel. If that doesn't do it, you'll need to get the camera serviced.

Lens Error

Hey Joy_2008,
A lens error usually means something is obstructing the movement of the lens (i.e. sand). You could try blowing compressed air into the side of the lens to try and dislodge whatever is stuck in the lens. You could also try placing the camera on a flat surface with the lens pointed up. While holding the shutter button in turn on the camera. What this sometimes does is force the lens to move before the camera shuts down, and when the lens moves hopefully it will dislodge whatever is stuck. If none of this works I would have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Lens stuck out

The lens probably has some dirt or grime stuck in the lens motor. If you can gently twist the lens back and forth, maybe with some air.

I have answered this in another post. Here is the link.
