VFollow the instructions below and it will work.

Disconnect the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD or Downloaded software program.

When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.

Then to use it on the Web, do this.
Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/) set it up as follows:

1. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
2. Then click on the Video Settings.
3. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
4. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and her to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://www.soft32.com/download_30.html ) set it up as follows:

1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

C. Windows Live Messenger:

1. After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.
NOTE: Your audio and video should work. Enjoy.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.

D. AIM (AOL) Messenger

1. On the VIM sign-in window click on Edit.
2. Then click on Settings Enhanced IM.
3. Next click on Enhanced IM.
4. Then click on Audio Video.
5. The Audio and Video portion has drop downs so you can select the proper audio card and video camera installed in you computer.
The Audi Video drop downs are
Microphone
Speaker
Camera

Adjust Your Audio and Video Settings:
In order to adjust your audio and video settings, please follow the steps given below:
1. Click the Audio and Video Settings button directly below the My Buddy or My Camera window. If you are currently participating in an AOL Live Video IM session, a message will display: You must disconnect the current AOL Live Video IM conversation before running setup. Would you like to disconnect now? Click the Yes button.
2. The Audio and Video Tuning Wizard will appear to help you verify that your camera, speakers and microphone are working properly. Follow the on-screen prompts.
Notes:
· The first time you use AOL Live Video IM, a message will display: Would you like to first check your audio and video settings? Click the Yes button. The Audio and Video Tuning Wizard will appear to help you verify that your camera, speakers and microphone are working properly. Follow the on-screen prompts.
· images in AOL Live Video IM may appear reversed, or as a mirror image (text may appear backwards) when you look at your own camera feed or at the picture-in-picture (PIP) display.
After making the settings your ready for a chat and video talk with your Family and Friends.

After you get your camera installed properly, DO NOT unplug it from the USB port as it will cause
the drivers to be corrupt and render the camera unusable till reinstalled it properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

My canon digital camera is otherwise o.k. b ut when taking in picture made, the screen stays dark and i cannot take pictures. this happened once before but through internet solutions i could solve it. can...

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras, especially for the SD1000. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help. This time if you fix it, remember to take many pictures afterwards to lubricate the shutter to prevent this from happening again.

I'm trying to download the sotfware that came with it ,but ut has not pop-up yet .

You don't need the Vivitar software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

I bought this router 2 days ago. I pluged in the phone socket (with micro filter), and into mains,it worked perfectly on my daughters' (each daughter has a laptop - all work)laptops, and one of my desktop...

1) Make sure there is no low-pass filter from the phone line to the wall - it should be directly connected.

2) The laptop issue has nothing to do with the wireless router if it's actually connected. Try pinging the router. Open the command prompt. type ipconfig. Look at the laptop's IP address and the gateway. Try pinging the gateway (ie ping 192.168.1.1). If the ping works, the connection is fine.

3) Can you open a browser window but not connect to a web page? This is due to a connectivity issue. If you can't even open a web page for whatever reason, its a problem with the laptop, not the connection. Hope this helps.

Yahoo webpage cannot display

You are having connectivity problems. Are you sure you have internet connection?

Try to open a command prompt and try to ping websites type:

ping yahoo.com

or

ping google.com

If they give you a 'request timed out' result, then you have no internet connection.
Check for network cables that should be properly plugged.

IE unable to open web pages

The version of IE does not matter.

Click "START"
Click "RUN"
Enter 'cmd' and press ENTER.
Enter 'ping www.yahoo.com' and press ENTER.
Do you get output like:

Reply from 209.131.36.158: bytes=32 time=81ms TTL=56
Reply from 209.131.36.158: bytes=32 time=37ms TTL=56
Reply from 209.131.36.158: bytes=32 time=44ms TTL=56
Reply from 209.131.36.158: bytes=32 time=61ms TTL=56
Ping statistics for 209.131.36.158:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),

If so, then your Internet connection is working fine.
If not, then you have no Internet connection.

Laptop wont open web pages

Also, you may try the following:

First, let's try to find if you get to Internet at all.

Click on START and then RUN. In the small window, type cmd and then click OK or press ENTER.
A DOS window wil open and you'll see a blinking cursor.

Type:
ping www.google.com and press ENTER
you should get 4 lines with something like
'Reply from 208.69.32.231: bytes=32 time=90 TTL=52'

If you get
'Reply from 208.69.32.231 time out, it is NOT good.
Then try this:
Type
ping 208.69.32.231 and press ENTER.

Did something change?

Leave this (DOS) window open.

Open START, then Control Panel and then Internet Options.
Click on Second Tab, SECURITY.
You will see 4 icons. All of them should be set to Default Level.
If they are not, set them on Default Level selecting one by one.
(If you are using IE7, than you can click on
'Reset all zones to default level')
Now, go to ADVANCED Tab and click on
'Restore advanced settings'.

Click APPLY and then OK.

Now, go back to DOS window and repeat the 'ping' commands.

Any changes ?

Can't send e-mail

Check your network connection. Can you visit web pages? If not, check your network cable, modem, etc.

If your connection is good, try pinging your outgoing mail server.

If the ping fails, phone whoever maintains the server, and ask them when it will be back online.

If the ping is successful, try closing, then opening your mail client. Doublecheck the settings for outgoing server, port, encryption options, username and password.
