Is there a way to print solid black images darker? We use this printer to print on clear film for screen printing and the darker the print, the easier it is to wash out. We have printed using the complete CMYK spectrum for solid blacks and also tried changing the media type to HP gloss to obtain 1200x600 dpi. That is still not as dark as the Roland Sol-Jet that we use. Is there a good ink or method to darken the image to a more solid black?
You can use Paint on your computer to modify it. If not it just might be the type of printer. See if you can buy darker ink at another store. If not your pretty much stuck like that. You can also go to copy stores or most major stores to get stuff copied for free or cost....

SOURCE: HP C5180 scanner won't scan an image
I'm running Windows Vista 64bit Ultimate Edition. Have the C5180, all-in-one. HP Solution Center continually closed, saying No HP Devices Found. I completely uninstalled the printer software, using the install utility. Then, using Add/Remove Programs, removed all of the other HP software on my PC. Then deleted the HP directory (in program files x86), and removed the HP registry key under software in both HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE & HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Then rebooted. Once that was done and back up, I reran the install utility, but this time I followed the steps below (from here - http://hpanswers.blogspot.com/2007/12/no-hp-devices-detected-hp-solution.html):
Click on next until you get the below three options
(i) Recommended
(ii)Custom-------------->Select This
( iii)uninstall
Choose the custom install and click on next, ****
At begining of the installation, It gives you to 2 options
I) Yes, Check for updates..........
II) No, I prefer to do it Myself--Select this option and click on next
Immediatley in the next window ,you will have long list of softwares with the empty check boxes beside them.DO NOT select(check) Hp update, check rest of them and click on next to continue the installation.
You will able to open the HP solution centre with No errors.
Additionally, I did the following 2 steps, that I mostly found here (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00897551&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&softwareitem=oj-54112-1&os=2093&product=1153481&rule=9653&lang=en)

Open the following ports on the firewall utility by following the instructions provided by the manufacturer:

Hey,
Your problem could be because of bad alignment. That means paper alignment and printer alignment don't match. There will be instructions in,your manual to properply align your printer.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

Dear friend, your Black Ink Cartridge is Empty thats why your printer is using the Colour Cartridge to produce the Black Colour. This is the reason you are having Dark Reddish Brown colour instead of Black.
