14" Ryobi petrol chainsaw will only run for 10 seconds

14"petrol chainsaw will run for 10 seconds and then cuts out. have had carb. off and cannot find fault but do not know enough about petrol system but think it is something to do with the pump part as I can keep it going longer by pressing priming bubble.

You are on the right track. Keep priming which indicates the fuel mixture is too lean to run. In other words the fuel line is partially clogged up. A drop of water on the gas tank would cause this problem. The fuel is fed on the suction basis. So clean up the fuel tank, (disassembly the carburator) reservoir, needle, float, offrice and fuel filter. A can of carburator cleaner (spray one) is a big help.

How do I remove the clutch cover from a Ryobi chainsaw?

There are two nuts that hold the clutch cover and chain bar in place. The same nuts you would loosen to adjust the chain tension. Once those are taken off the cover, bar and chain can be removed.

Haveing problems cutting thick branches with chain saw it is sticky with sap and chewing up the blade blunt

If you have a low cc chainsaw, this is what happens with the tougher trees. Check what cc yours is. The more cc the more power!! For example, alot of the chainsaws you see for sale in Home Depot are ranging between 32cc and 40cc... you should have at least a 50cc and up...

Gday folks have a 163CC 2500PSI RYOBI® RPW2400 Petrol High Pressure Cleaner that cuts out after about 5 to 10 seconds Nothing obvious to me. any suggestions would be grateful Thanks Marc

Check fuel delivery to the carburetor--if just drips, check the fuel filter for plugging. Make sure you have fresh fuel in the tank. Hope this helps!

I bought a ryobi 14 inch electric chainsaw. Is

Use regular bar/chain oil available from home centers, hardware stores, and saw shops. Always keep the chain properly sharpened and tensioned so that you don't have to force the chain into the cut which causes motor overheating. If you need to make an 'under' cut, do so with the top of the bar--don't run the saw upside down. Good luck!

I have been given a ryobi 306rt petrol strimmer. It starts and then cuts out, I'm not sure of the exact settings as to how you start it up and keep it runnng. Any help would be apprciated.

To give the inital fuel needle mixture settings i would need to know the type of carb. on the unit ie. zama, walboro ect. it should say on the carb.,it may take a little hunting for. Second check all the fuel lines running from tank to carb. checking for craks or breaks.

You will first want to check your fuel lines for cracks/breaks.
2. If they are o.k. then you will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb. cleaner. Make sure that the small screen in carb. is free of debris. Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152), to clean the small portals in carb. Check the gasket and diaphragm for breaks or wear. (NOTE): If your carburetor guts, (Carb. Kit), are more than 3 or 4 years old, you might want to replace them while you have it apart. If you need further assistance, just let me know.
