The light bulb in the oven began to flicker, then over a number of days, finally burned out. When we tried to remove bulb, it broke. Turned off fusebox to oven, removed light bulb
"stump" and replaced with fresh bulb. The new bulb will not light. We tried new bulb in other light fixture to make sure filament not broken, and it worked fine. Can you suggest a remedy please?
I use 2 sided tape to get a grip on the bulb. If it is really stuck and you end up breaking it, don't worry as it will be easier to remove the rest of the bulb with a pair of needle nose pliers.

Oven lights burn out just like any other light bulb. If you remove one, you may be able to tell if it's burned out if it is rattling or discolored. They are generally an inexpensive bulb to replace.
NORMALLY THERE ARE SCREWS TO REMOVE TO ACCESS A PANEL TO REMOVE THE LIGHT BULB. IF THERE ARE NOT, THEN THE EXTERIOR COVER MAY NEED TO BE REMOVED TO ACCESS THE LIGHT BULB. THIS EXTERIOR COVER HAS SCREWS.
MAKE SURE YOUR CIRCUIT BREAKER IS OFF BEFORE YOU TRY TO REPLACE THE BULB.
for model 9815xub, the oven light consists of a light bulb cover(clear plastic, sometimes called lens) the light bulb receptacle( pressure mounted against the back wall of the oven ) and the light bulb, standard appliance bulb that screws into the receptacle, the same as the lens, it also screws into the receptacle, twist counter clockwise to remove both the lens and the bulb. as a reference try the following site: www.partselect.com/ and type your model number in the window, then click on the oven cavity breakdown to view thwe assembly.
This is an older (Mfgr. May, 1987) microwave oven. Functions perfectly, works an looks good to this day, just no light inside. I searched a couple of websites looking for parts for this unit and appliancepartspros.com provided schematics of the product that I own. From those drawings, it was determined that the microwave oven will have to be slid out of the cabinet above the built-in oven in order to change a $2.37, 40W light bulb. Just a handfull of scrws retaining the oven and exhaust baffles and I'll get it out (onmce the New Year's Eve hangover disappears). The engineer who designed a system like this must have been on an Acid Trip. I haven't looked closely at newer microwave ovens, but I'd have to believe changing a crummy light bulb would have to be made easier than this during the preliminary engineering phase of design.
If the fan is working o/k then you need a new element fitting.
Remove the panel at the rear of the oven, there you will see the element, remove the fixing screws and ease the element forward, taking care not to lose the wires, disconnect the leads and fit new element.
The light flickering is probably the bulb not screwed in propely or a bad contact, nothing to worry about.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks
looked up the bulb part is no longer available, but it looked like a regular appliance light bulb, remove the old one no diffrent then any appliance bulb you can buy in the supermarket if need be
