Can you play The xbox 360 on the internet?

The xbox live gold membership is paid for when you buy it. It never runs out until you have used all of the time you bought. Like say you bought a 12 month subscription it will last you the whole year until the day you bought the last one and activated it. Only time you use money is when you want to buy something from xbox live. All you need is the internet wifi or direct cable works. You can actually use your xbox live account on any xbox. Say if his friend has an xbox and has xbox live he can then use his account on his friends xbox to play online with his friend. You dont have to worry though every time he goes to an xbox he has to recover his xbox live account info so no one else can use it while he is using it. There is also a few new updates to keep his account safe as well when he does want to do something like that. also you can go into family settings and make it so he cant buy anything with out a pass code even put a timer on it with a pass code to limit time of play. So inclosing no you dont have to buy GB it just uses your internet connection and it does cover the cost of play for as long as you bought the subscription. Hope this helps :)

You will need some kind of internet connection so you will use either an Ethernet cord or a Wifi adapter. After you connect to the internet through your Xbox 360 you will have a 1 month free Xbox live trial. When the trial ends you will either use an Xbox live silver subscription which doesn't allow you to play games on-line, use Netflix, etc. Otherwise you would need to buy an Xbox live gold pass which is a better deal as you purchase a longer subscription. 1.Simply connect your xbox 360 to the internet with the Ethernet cable. Go from the xbox 360 to a router or directly to your internet source; internet modem or internet cable if you have fiber optic internet connection.
2. Turn on your xbox 360 and go to the xbox live tab.
3. Go wher it says Join and follow instructions.

The internet stick you have would be a USB device which is not supported by Xbox 360, you can connect to Xbox 360 wirelessly or through a wired connection

I'm not sure if that is the exact name, but it looks like a pretty small internet router. Then, you hook that up to the front or back of your 360, into one of the many USB ports, and you install it. You may need help and may have to call Xbox 360 customer service. But, those are the two ways to get live.

Some game are compatible with the new xbox 360. They are called backwards compatible and you do need to flash upgrade the OS on the new xbox 360 system.

You need to go to the xbox website and go to support and download the flash update then burn it to disk and put it on the xbox to update the software. Again not all old games are compatible with the new xbox system. If your buying used games like I do make sure it says bc next to the title before buying them.

This is 99% always the case when your dvd drive is going out. You can find a replacement on ebay for under $15. Video tutorials can be found on youtube just by typing "xbox 360 laser replacement" Replace the laser and you won't have this problem anymore.

I figured it out! I am also in a hotel room with only ethernet...and can connect to the network but not to the internet. When I got onto the internet for the first time on my laptop, there was a hotel internet webpage that came up immediately. You have to click CONNECT for 24hrs; 48; 1 week etc. unfortunately for us, Xbox doesn't have a internet browser like the PS3 does. So we can not click CONNECT when we are attempting to connect on the 360. The only reason why I know this is correct is because my friend brought his PS3 to my hotel room and that hotel connect window popped up and immediately we were playing Modern Warfare 2 with "full bars"...Xbox should really add a download for a browser! Like 360 way more. Sorry guys!
