Changed batteries in remote starter and it will not work.

I have two remotes for my "Viper 1-way remote start model: 5101" One stopped working and the other only worked 50% of the time. Swapped out the batteries (CR 2032)in both and now neither remote works. I had this installed in my 2006 Ford Five Hundred in October 2009 at a Best Buy. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I know it sounds simple, but are you sure you put the batteries in correctly? They are easy to put in wrong and you also can't rule out the batteries you have are old and/or defective. Also, by not working, do you mean the FOB's work (usually an indicator light) and the remote starter doesn't respond or do you mean the FOB's don't light up?

Testimonial: "Both FOBs light up, but the commands are not happening (car starting, unlocking doors)"

SOURCE: Viper remote starter sets off alarm.

Whoever hooked up your system did not hook up the factory alarm disarm and arm wires. Your car thinks it is being stolen as a result of this. You need to get a wire diagram of your car and hook up the proper wires.

SOURCE: My Sharp Remote Control Is Suddenly Stop Working

Ok I just dealt with the Sharp customer support for this problem.

1) You need to unplug the TV for 1 full minute and remove the batteries from your remote aswell (this will reset the system)
2) Hold the power button on the remote for 30 seconds with the batteries still out of the remote and the TV still unplugged
3) After the 30 seconds replace batteries then press every button on the remote beginning with the power button in order from left to right and top to bottom (same way you read)
4) Then plug your tv back in and try the remote again.... and the remote and TV should be back in sync.

Viper 5101 no longer starts

are your brake lights functioning properly? remote starts sometimes use this as a fail safe, or a bent hood pin switch? Also It may need the tach reprogrammed if used. there may be a seperate fuse for the starter.
here is the link to the installation manual: http://www.directeddealers.com/manuals/ig/viper/n4102v_2008_09_web.pdf
and the page regarding this issue: • The remote start will activate, but the starter never engages.
1. Check for voltage on the purple starter wire two seconds after the remote
start becomes active. If there is voltage present, skip to Step 4. If there is
not voltage present, advance to Step 2.
2. Check the 30A fuses.
3. If the gray/black wait-to-start wire is detecting ground upon activation, the
starter will not crank.
4. Make sure the purple starter wire is connected on the starter side of the
optional starter kill/anti-grind relay.
5. Does the vehicle have an immobilizer? Some immobilizer systems will not
allow the vehicle to crank if active.
6. Check connections. The heavy gauge remote start input wires on the
heavy gauge 10-pin connector should have a solid connection. "T-taps"
or "scotch locks" are not recommended for any high current heavy gauge
wiring.
good luck.

Viper 5101 Manual Transmission - can't start

First off, is it in neutral? It can't engage the starter motor if it's in gear. Secondly, If it was professionally installed, why not just take it back and demand that they fix it?

Your wiring should somewhat match this.

Viper remote starter-

The start/stop 3x thing could be one of a few main issues. You need a bypass module or it needs to be reset. You need to program the tach if you're using it. Make sure with the new models(5101, 5301) it's programmed for auto transmission. The come default for manual transmissions.
