Vertical Hold I bought a universal remote and as I was trying to program it, it messed up the vertical hold.  I can't stop the picture from flipping -- and it's rather fast too -- too fast to read what's on the screen.  How do I reset the vertical hold?

I have the exact same problem: I bought a universal remote and as I was trying to program it, it messed up the vertical hold. I can't stop the picture from flipping -- and it's rather fast too -- too fast to read what's on the screen. Also, my universal remote and the dvd player are the same brand. I contacted the company and they have no clue. Does anyone know what I can do

If you have a universal remote keep the dvd player on. Try to reset your universal remote by using a code search button by using dvd option and it should straigten it out. It did mine.

Have a universal remote but lost paper work to type code for tv. Bought a universal remote

Try doing these steps so you can search the codes for your tv.
1. Turn on the component
2. Press and hold the TV key.
The illuminated on-off key turns on and stays on
3. While holding the component key down, press and hold the ON-OFF key. The illuminated ON-OFF key turns off.
4. After holding down both keys for three seconds, the illuminated ON-OFF key turns back on.
5. Release both keys. The illuminated ON-OFF key remains on
6. Press and release the ON-OFF key repeatedly until your component turns off. Wait four seconds between each keypress. Each time you press the ON-OFF key, the illuminated ON-OFF key blinks, and the next code in the list is sent. This process continues until all of the codes in the code lists have been searched. If your component turns off, you have found the correct code. (If it cycles through and the illuminated ON-OFF key blinks four times and turns off, all codes have been search. The manual code search method is exited.)
7. Once you have found the correct code, you must save the new code by pressing and releasing the STOP key. The illuminated ON-OFF key turns off. You must press the STOP key to save the code or the correct code will not be saved.
8. To confirm that the TV is programmed with the correct code for max functionality, test the TV. Attempt to control a variety of the TV's functions with the remote. If some of the features of your TV do not work try programming the remote with a different programming method. Be sure to retrieve the code your remote programmed.

Before trying anything else try resetting the TV to the factory specs.
To do this simply turn the TV on using the power button on the TV while holding the reset button on the remote. While you are still holding the reset button the TV should turn itself off then back on again.

I cant find a code that works for my tv

Even their instructions for code searching does not work properly..... BUT I found a way to make this little remote work with ANY TV! With the TV on......... I just throw it at the on/off button on the front of the TV. After missing few times, it will break into about 60 pieces! Then when it broke into several pieces, I went to Radio Shack, bought a universal remote made by a REPUTABLE company. The codes were all there and it worked perfectly!

I can help. I too have an RCR312W remote and it did not work.
I found this code on message board. The code from the RCR311W remote works.

1) turn on unit

2) press and hold componet button on remote (TV, VCR, etc)
until On/Off lights up

3) press and hold On/Off while holding component button. Light will go out. Continue hoding both buttons until light comes back on.

4) release both buttons. On/Off should stay on.

5) Press On/Off repeatedly until unit turns off.

6) Press the Stop key at bottom.

7) light goes off. Remote is programmed!

AudioLogic DVD-108 - help setting up component cables (no picture)

This may not be a solution, but is a good start. I recently bought a house with the theater system installed, but no remote. Had similiar problems with some functions on Universal remote. Did a google search and got the remote for my system and presto! I did a google on the DVD-108 and saw a AudioLogic remote(similiar, Originals are no longer available), and saw that there is a "setup" button as well as others that may select inputs. This may not be a solution, but would be a good start. Worked for me!

Picture flipping

The P52940 uses the 195 series chassis. The vert/hgt control is for vertical height. It adjusts the size of the picture from top to bottom. If your picture is flipping, it most likely means that something is wrong in the vertical circuits. I have seen fluid leak out of one of the CRTs and drip down on the vertical output IC, causeing the picture to go crazy vertically. The set should be serviced by a qualified tech experienced in the RCA 195 chassis.

After programming my new universal remote, the tv keeps changing chanels! wont stop!

you need to program your remote control. take the battaries out. and maually turn the tv on. then hit the source you want to view. for example, I want to control the tv set. I push, code search and hold it then push the source button and then release the source button and then release the code search button. now, aim at the tv and then keep pressing power button till it goes off. when the tv is off, hit return or set or something like that.( every remote has different calling for it but still the same function) it should work. try it and let me know.

Tv is locked

I had the exact problem...tried a number of things that did not work. My dog "ate" my original remote. After reading your solution I took the universal remote that was programmed to work with the tv and tried holding down each button for a few seconds hoping that one would work like the display button on the original remote. It worked. I have a GE universal remote and the menu/info button worked for me. Again, you need to hold it in for a couple of seconds. Thanks for the help and I hope my added solution helps other people. Claudia in Minnesota
