Question about Onkyo TX-SR501 Receiver
How do i connect aux to receiver? Specifically, an ipod/ipad without a dock. Can i use a mini jack to twin rca cable? Please do help.

SOURCE: Ipod Dock connection
The Red, green, blue from this adaptor cable
go into any of the RGB inputs on the Onkyo
The R/W go into the corresponding inputs for audio, Red and White.
One thing to note,
IF you are running one source RGB like you want to do,
you may have to monitor output the video of the amp RGB to the TV, most of these amps do not like to mix HDMI with anything else.
So If you have one HDMI going out to the TV, this solution will not work. You should look at the manual for the Onkyo regarding what paths can pass at the same time. There is usually a small disclaimer in the HDMI section.
Hope that solves your question.

SOURCE: hooking Ipod to onkyo receiver
i pods use a different adapter for doing this. It plugs in the bottom using the big porton bottom and outputs the rca plugs this way. Ipods see too much resistance and protects the unit from burning out. check this out http://www.amazon.com/Logic3-iPod-RCA-Phono-Cable/dp/B00083D7WC
