I have a sansa clip 2gb
when i used it on my ancient windows 2000 computer, i put a lot of songs on it.
when we got rid of that computer, and when i tried it on other computers xp and up, the songs put on from the win2000 CPU wont show, and vice-versa . how can i see these?

my computer also says that the mp3 is almost full, so i know there there

on my old computer, the mp3 was recognized as a device with removable storage, and on my new computer it is "Other"

If you mean that the songs don't show up on the computer screen, then you probably need to change the USB MODE setting on the Clip. To do this, disconnect the Clip from the computer, then scroll to SETTINGS. Select Settings, then scroll to USB Mode and select it.. (If your Clip is very old it might not have a USB Mode listed under SETTINGS. If this is the case you should update your Clip's Firmware from the sansa website). Older computers recognize the MSC Mode while newer ones should recognize either mode. (except XP Professional doesn't seem to recognize the MTP mode). Songs entered in one mode won't show up on the computer if you're in the other mode. If you mean that the songs aren't showing up on the Clip's own screen then this solution probably won't help. By the way, I've never had any luck with the "auto detect" mode.

Hello,

Restoring your player can be done in 2 main steps:
>>1. For updating the firmware, the player should be switched to MSC mode.
This could be done through the menu. When not knowing what the display shows, use the forcing method in next link:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61/sno/0
See the Sansa Clip steps below:
1. Turn device OFF.
2. Slide the Hold switch down to Lock (orange color showing).
3. Press and hold the center button while connecting the device to the PC.
<<

>> 2. Once connected in MSC mode you can use the firmware updater when having Windows operating system, see next page:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/300/kw/firmware%20updater/r_id/101834
<<

For others who have MAC or Linux operating system you can not use the firmware updater: firmware should be manually downloaded from Sansa Forums and installed afterwards:

My Sansa Clip 2GB MP3 player won't let me add any more songs to it, even though there's 1.26 GB still available. I don't want to reformat the player, cuz that'll delete the songs I already have on there. ...

Hi there..

When you say having difficulty in adding the songs in CLIP, though you have enough space. I'd kindly request you to check for the number of songs that you have added.

Because when you add as MP3 player by default its bit rate is 128kbps so you can add up to 500 songs only. Kindly have a check on it.

I have given the number of songs that can be added with related to size of MP3 player..

Size of the player :512MB 1GB 2GB 4GB 8GB 16GB 32GB
Number of songs : 125 250 500 1000 2000 4000 8000

Kindly revert if any clarifications....

Does not show songs that were previously synced

Hi,
1. Make sure you Windows Media Player 11 (Goto Help --> About WMP --> v??) 2. If you do not have it, install it from this location: http://www.microsoft.com/mediaplayer  3. Change the Mode on Device: Go into Menu --> Settings --> USB Mode:Auto Detect/MTP/MSC  4. Select MSC and it should work. If it does not try Powercycling your device (turn it off and then turn it on). 5. Try other modes as well.
