SOURCE: Factory cd player doesn't play aftermarket burned cd's

What format are you burning them in? CDA or MP3 most Factory units will only play CDA format, just pick you up a copy of Nero and choose Aduio CD, it will convert you MP3 format to CDA and you should be able to playthem with no issue, the CDA format also works in the old portable CD players as well...

Hope this Helps,
David

Under the steering wheel by your feet, remove the 2 screws that hold the panel up. Carefully remove that, then just take your hands and start popping the dash off, but be CAREFUL!

My 2004 Lincoln Navigator has a DVD player near the passenger side but It doesn't have a monitor. What is the DVD player for.?

Is the DVD slot in the dash board or in the second row? Does it appear to be factory installed or possibly aftermarket? If factory and in the front, I'd suspect it's for loading navigation system updates. Does your Navigator have factory navigation?

How do I fix the clock display on my 1999 Pontiac Sunfire?

It appears to be that the radio clock display has malfunctioned, and is due for a replacement radio, which could be an aftermarket or oem radio, maybe found at a junk yard.

Tools required for oem replacement radio, torx keys set.

Before working on the radio or other electronics, disconnect the battery cables with 8mm wrench.

Replacing the oem radio is much easier, if you obtain oem radio, compared to aftermarket radio, due to being direct fit.

The radio is same for 1995 to 1999 Pontiac Sunfire and the Chevy Cavalier, regardless of sub models, such as SE,GT, VL,VLX,Z24. etc.

Parts needed for the the aftermarket radio install :Stereo assembly, stereo wiring harness adapter, radio antenna adapter, and dash install kit.wiring diagram for the wire colors / functions, along with tools, such as torx key set, screwdrivers, wire crimper, wire stripper, double ended wiring connectors, hair dryer.

The oem stereo removal video is for the 2000 to 2005 Sunfire / Cavalier, but are the same or very similar procedures.

The aftermarket dvd player screen in my 2008 dodge grand caravan went out and I need to know how to take it out. Can anyone tell me how to take the compartment off of the overhead console?

If you're not familiar with removing parts inside a car then you probably shouldn't try it. Maybe go to a radio installer and see if they can give you some tips. It sounds like you're going to have to go to someplace to have it fixed or replaced anyhow.

How do you take of the dash paneling to install a new aftermarket cd player?

  • Disconnect the negative battery cable from the Jeep Cherokee battery with the 10 mm wrench.
  • 2 Remove the five screws on the top edge of the dash panel with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
  • 3 Pry the trim panels surrounding the climate control knobs away from the dashboard with the trim panel removal tool.
  • 4 Remove the trim panel that surrounds the headlamp switches (located to the left of the steering column) with a trim panel removal tool.
  • 5 Remove the two screws behind the trim panel that surrounds the headlamp controls with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
  • 6 Pull the dash panel that surrounds the stereo and covers the instrument panel of the Cherokee, away from the dashboard by hand.
  • 7 Remove the two screws from the stereo mounting bracket. One screw is on the bottom left corner, the other screw is on the top right corner. Each screw can be removed with the 10 mm socket and drive.
  • 8 Pull the factory stereo from the stereo mounting dock.
  • 9 Disconnect the stereo wiring from the back of the factory unit.
  • 10 Connect the Jeep Cherokee factory stereo wiring to a wiring harness adapter. Connect the wiring harness adapter leads to an aftermarket stereo. Slide the aftermarket stereo into the stereo mounting bracket and replaced two screws at the opposite corners with the 10 mm socket and drive.
  • 11 Replace dash panel that stretches across the top of the steering column.
  • 12 Replace the two screws at the top of the headlamp control switch. Replace the trim panel around the headlamp switch.
  • 13 Replace the trim panel that surrounds the climate control knobs.
  • 14 Replace the five screws on the top edge of the dashboard with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
  • 15 Replace the negative battery cable over the negative battery terminal and tighten the cable to the negative lead post with the 10 mm wrench

Need repair manual for 1999 Pontiac Montana

I would recommend the MITCHELL'S Online Manuals. Go to www.mitchell.1.com and you can get a single subscription for about $10. When I had my own repiar shop I had te complete set of Mitchell's. Very complete and just a good as the factory repair manuals (maybe better). I especially liked the wiring diagrams. Very complete.
Good Luck. . . . . BTW, you SHOULD replace the head bolts regardless of which type of gasket you use. Once they are torqued, they shouldn't be used again.

you might have to take it to the dealership to have the radio reprogramed. it should only cost 40 bucks. these radios are very tempermental and have a mind of their own sometimes. My profesional recomendation would be to have an aftermarket cd player in. they are much nicer and have way better quality than the factory radio's
