Hi,

Overheating is one of the frequent causes of freezing and other errors in your toshiba Laptops. So, if your laptops keeps freezing then the first and the most important thing that you would have to check is whether your fan is working or not. If your fan is not working then you would have to buy a cooler pad for your toshiba laptop. The cooler pad which sits under your laptop would prevent it from getting overheated.

Just repaired one like that and the problem was it was over heating. The cooling fins (located behind the fan) were solid pack with lint. Once I removed that obstruction everything was fine again.

SOURCE: MY TOSHIBA KEEPS FREEZING

Hi

Main reason i computer being occupied by active applications those are running in background (discreetly). You can reduce the quantity of startup items by using MSCONFIG utility. Also you can change the performance settings. (You can choose best performance instead of best appearence). Some features of the operating system can be stopped to increase the performance. For example turning of system restore option sometimes increases the performance 10-15%. Also performing periodical (weekly recommended) instant maintenance by using disk clean up tool. I have given some basic options if you need further details please post your questions.

Good Luck

SOURCE: want to restore factory settings on my toshiba

I am going to make a suggestion, and am not quite certain you will take this as a solution, but it is the best course of action for your laptop. By today's standards, this is on the low-end of laptops, but still very capable for normal tasks. It is only suited for Windows 98, maybe Windows 2000, at best due to the specifications. Considering this, I want to suggest installing Linux on the laptop instead. Linux is an operating system like Windows, does all the same things, and is faster on older systems because it is more efficient. Ubuntu Linux is one of the most popular distributions, as it is used by Dell computers. Here is a link to the ISO cd download:

http://mirrors.ccs.neu.edu/releases.ubuntu.com/intrepid/ubuntu-8.10-desktop-i386.iso

If you need help burning the ISO file to a CD, then use this link:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto

Lastly, here is a link to the official documentation page for users coming from Windows to Linux:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SwitchingToUbuntu/FromWindows

Try this, you won't be disappointed, and you will be amazed at how fast the computer runs and how beautiful the linux operating system looks...it is not that hard to use, and your daughter will catch on quickly...oh, by the way...Linux is free!!

SOURCE: understanding the model numbers for toshiba laptops

the model number are listed, usually on the bottom of the laptop, and usually starts with a letter. The models are as follows: A105-S6084 or P105-S6092. Some of the smaller netbooks are listed as VGN-S460 or such like. The model number is usually on the top right of the display screen bezel.

Como saber el modelo de mi laptop toshiba

English Translation:
Greetings: I have a satellite laptop and I am trying to check the sticker where it leaves the model and serial number but not visualize anything, but through it I got the serial number through command and has thrown me sgte result 1C157182Q and I get the exact model and to find the drivers for the laptop ...

Toshiba Laptops have the serial and model information on the bottom of the laptop. IF you do not see it on the bottom you will have to remove the panels on the bottom as sometimes they put this information on the inside of the panels.

Hope this helps.
-FlukeLSX

Toshiba laptop keyboard keeps freezing up

Plug in a USB mouse and keyboard if the problem continues, then it's a bad install or bad motherboard. If the external keyboard is fine, then it's usually a palm rest or keyboard connection problem. If this model has a nub button in the center of the keyboard, these are often problematic and can be easily removed.

My Toshiba Satellite laptop, model no: PS190E-00K4...

You may be a victim of spyware/maleware infections. You will need to have your system cleaned. This should help

resolve your issue.

I would recommend trying CCleaner first to see if this helps you. Please keep in mind this will not rid your

system of everything just keep you a float and offer you a fighting chance.

Please keep me posted and updated on your issue. I am here for you and will see your issues out till resolved.

Have a great and wonderful day :)

SP 6000/PS6000E-207PK-EN Will not fire up. If press start, then LEDs flash Orange (1st left) 5 times then 2, then 1 and then repeats. 3rd LED (green) stays on. If battery is removed, start button pressed...

You got some short on board, You need techguy. Or possible Bios flash, Remove the Harddisk and press the power button.
If nothing change, Remove power, battery, cd rom, Hdd, memory.

Then put one stick of memory, power up, see anything comes up.If does, power off, put the other memory plug in power, fire up.
If does ok. Then plug off, and put hdd without CD rom. see if it did work.

If none is worked as I say you have short or CPU fan is not functioning.
Goodluck.

My Toshiba Satellite M45-169 keeps freezing

1. The battery on the motherboard has died. Replace battery.
2. The BIOS is corrupt, reflash BIOS.

Most likely #1, very rarely #2. Pop out the battery on the motherboard and replace it, after the first time you boot up your computer, go into BIOS and set everything the way it should be for your computer (usually just time and date) and then after each sequential time you reboot, that should take care of your problem.
