Be sure to check inside basket very carefully to make sure no loose nails or screws or drill bits etc that were left in a pocket are sticking through a hole in the basket and locking it to tub. This is common. If that is not the problem, one of three things has happened. 1 The thrust bearing that releases the brake has worn out. This is the most common and easiest thing to repair. If you tilt the machine back so you can look under it you will see the pulley that turns the transmission. When the pulley turns one direction it works the agitator, turn it the other direction and you should see it push the brake up that is directly above it. The thrust bearing kit includes the pulley and all bearings and washers to release brake. If you are mechanichal and can follow the directions that come with it, it is a fairly simple repair. 2 The brake lining has come apart and "stacked" itself in the brake housing. Replacing the brake is not hard, but there is about 200lbs of spring force pushing against the brake and housing that must be released slowly. I would recommend you call a technician for this just because I don't want anyone to get hurt trying to follow my directions on this repair. 3 An item of clothing has found its way between the basket and tub and has the basket bound up. This would mean removing agitator and basket. It is not likely this has happened, but I have seen it before.
SOURCE: -no agitation
Hello
Welcome to Fixya
My name is Huum,
All functions operate normally except the machine will not agitate.
The agitator is driven
by a couple of different methods. The first is the agitator is splined
and slips onto the matching splines of the agitator shaft from the
transmission. The second is the use of a bell coupling which is splined
to the agitator shaft as well and the agitator snaps onto the coupling.
If the agitator does not agitate, first remove the agitator and watch
the agitator shaft to see if it is working properly. This wil require a
small load setting of water and the machine set to run. If the agitator
shaft is working properly, it is either the splines on the agitator or
the bell coupling that is defective. If the agitator shaft does not
work properly, the problem is in the transmission.

SOURCE: Maytag washing machine skips rinse cycle
Don't know how to solve it, but I do know that the Solution #1 is WRONG.
I have a 5 year warranty on my washer, but I hate people coming into my house. Background check or not, people are people.
Any ways, when they do fix my problem I will let you know. It's an electrical problem.
I know our electric meters are running, but all you have to do is put the washer on "SPIN" cycle, and it will spin and the water will come out. Or you can put your washer in RINSE cycle, since it did not actually rinse.
I was standing and I watched my washer fill 3/4 full with water, and the skip to "COMPLETE" all on it's own. It was suppose to fill all the way to FULL.
Thinking though, I have well water, and I have rust in my water, and I noticed that my water is pouring slower into the washer, maybe there is a clog with rust or something I'll have to clean the filter, but any ways, maybe the washers have a timer, and when it's to the time it should be complete, it skips to complete. It does take DOUBLE time for my water to go into the washer. I was standing there for several minutes.
Any ways, I hope that will help. My washer first did that a few months ago, it didn't do it again, I didn't think anything of it, then it did it again last month, and about every 2 or 3 washes, it does it. It's NOT the weight of my clothes! I wash mini loads and it does it.
