I have a Canon MP830 printer for over a year. I have the error code 6A00. I called Canon tech support and the guy said my printer has papper jam. He asked me to check every where inside of my printer, but there was no sign of papper jam. Luckily he didn't charge me $10 dollars for doing nothing helpful. I think Canon printers are **** and Canon tech support is the same. I buy another printer, I don't think I going to buy Canon printer again.
All the best The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.
Solution 1: Move the printhead carriage back and forth a few times.
Solution 2: Check the purge unit: Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.

6A00 means the purge assembly is stuck, on the right where the printhead rests when turned off. impossible to clean without disassembly. Best to replace #qm2-3032-000, about $19.95

Hi Good day!! The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam. Some where in the
paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer
will give off a 6A00 code. As a Canon tech, I usually find the code,
almost 90% of the time, is related to the purge unit being jammed with
something and not being able to move. Moving the print head assembly
will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push
pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like. And yes I have
found all those things in a purge unit. The offending item needs to be
removed or the purge unit needs replacement. A Pixma MP830 would still
be under Canon warranty, get it into a shop and save yourself the
hassel. Incidently, the 6A00 error pertains to all Canon printers
made in the last several years, its not just used in one model. And its
always a paper path error or purge unit. I forget myself so here
goes, the purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, lexmark, and
other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not
in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is
clean and open for printing. That is why you'll find the print head
assembly parked on top of it. It also has a an electrical pump to milk
the print heads and test for ink flow.
That error means the purge assembly is jammed. Check for paper caught in the right side where the printhead parks, if all clear you will need a new purge assembly. A shop repair for sure....
Canon lists the solutions for the error 6A00 as... 1. Press ON/OFF switch to reset the multifunction device 2. Press Stop/Reset and ON/OFF to reset the printer 3. Removing paper jams 4. The MP830 may require repair 5. Unlock the scanner lock switch (MP830)
In my IP 3000 during a print suddenly on the 3rd page, a big "crunch" sound. Paper was jammed - error 5100 or smthg, and managed to remove the paper... but then error 6A00 came up. I found this post and was saved. Manually moved the print head left and right, turned the printer on/off. Still the same error. Then I noticed a piece of torn paper lodged inside. Removed that, got inky fingers, and finally got printer in working condition.
Try to clean any foreign object inside.May be it can help you.

6A00 is a purge unit fault, if you have have a years canon warrenty i
would call them and get a engineer out to investergate the fault, If
not strip machine and and see if the purge unit is moving back and
forward. it could be that the carriage unit is stuck on the purge and
the carriage unit cant move.

try simply moving the cartridge back and forth a few times first
Because: 6A00 is a problem with the sheet feed unit. Follow Canon's suggestion, take it or send the unit UPS to the Authorized Repair Facility. You will NOT be able to resolve the problem yourself.
