you should be able to get it out from the inside on the card. Do you have a sound card or is your sound on the motherboard?
SOURCE: dell dimension 8200 keyboard compatibility- won't
From what I understand you have a compatibility issue with your new keyboard.
Here is what you can do, because it's probably a driver issue.
Youcan check if you are missing drivers by going to Start>(RightClick)My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager. If yousee any drivers that are yellow or with a ! those are the drivers youneed to find, download and install.
Windows Updates ~ When you go to Windows Update, do not "Express"update, rather "Custom" - Once it has loaded the screen, on the lefthand side you will see hardware. Download the hardware drivers there. They work 98% of the time, and Windows Update is pretty good now daysso it might fix your problem easy.
I don't understand the question entirely however.
Does your original keyboard work?
Is the new keyboard the only one not being reconizied?
Try differen USB ports, see if it makes a difference. Also, turn off the PC, and then plug it in. Sometimes the PC has to be restarted/turned off, before you change hardlike like keyboard and mouse or other accessories.
Hope I've been of some assistance!

Click on the speaker icon in the lower right side of the screen, and set the volume control to high. If no help, do you have amplified speakers? Line or headphone outputs are too low to drive speakers directly.
