Red convergence out of range.

The tv appears to have a problem with the red verticle convergence.  The outer edges of the screen are blurry.  Went to the convergence screen and found the red to be out of adjustment. It is bowed so much on the right side of the screen it cannot be compensated.

I have a Mitsubishi Wt-42A 1080 HDTV. The problem is that the blue color is distorted, the blue color is separated from the rest of the picture. If I change the input on the TV so I only get a blue screen, on the left of the screen there is a vertical blank bar, as if some of the blue screen is distorted or missing. Other than that the picture is fine. I cannot find the manual for this TV set. I just found out the WTA42 and the WT42311 is the same set, the WTA42 which I have was made for Best Buys. I'm thinking it might be a problem I might be able to fix , like changing a lamp or something else.
    Thanks
    Jimmy

My wt 42311 used stk392-110, I replaced both w/ 392-150.
Perfect picture, just had to converge in the advanced setting in 7-8 spots.

The outer edges of my screen are showing double images ie I get blue and red images

Adjust the cross hairs on your TV. See menu setting for convergence. If this will not cure the problem..you have a bad convergence board!

Picture appears blurry, duplicate images almost. Mostly around the outer edges.

You need to have the convergence IC's replaced. Try going into your menu and look for Convergence alignment adjustment option, you should be able to move the red and blue cross hair on the screen, just follow the instruction on the set and see which on does not move, then have that one replaced. But I strongly suggest that you replace them both, as if one has failed the other is not far behind, and will cost you more to replace in the long run. Better to do some prevention now then have the same problem happen again in the near future. A good note to give the technician i you don't repair it yourself, If the unit uses convergence IC's part #STK-392-110, Have him or her install higher rating ones #STK-392-120 these will last longer.

I've got an RCA ctc195 series TV and the lamps appear to be working but the TV images are coming on with blue/red/green around the edges making them blurry - I know it's an old TV but I need it to work...

It sounds as if you have a convergence issue. If you go into the menue with the remote control
and highlite the screen selection. this should get you to the convergence selection. if you highlite
the RED selection and use the arrow buttons on the remote, you should be able to move the RED
either vertically or horizonally over top of the green line. Do the same with the BLUE selection.
If they do not move, you probly have a failure with the Convergence power Supply. To my knowlege, that board is no longer available and you would need a professioal Service tech to repair the board.
Hope this helps,

JVC AV56-WP74 Convergence problem

Hello saduchan,

I think that your ICs are ok, What you need to perform is what is called dynamic convergence, This involves using the internal convergence controls to align the outer edges of the screen. I am assuming that the center of the screen is ok? it's just the edges which are misaligned, right? Now for the bad news, this task is not easy in fact the job takes a pro about 6 to 12 hours to do it right. I think you should have a qualified TV technician attempt the static convergence setup followed by the dynamic convergence setup.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

51 big screen apex tv, convergence or verticle IC?

If the lines are thin and close together running horizontally, it may be the vertical driver, but that usually takes out the resistor and sometimes the diode in the B+ for the vert. Also you must replace the caps that caused the problem in the first place.

The words on the screen is doubled or trippled.

Go to the picture control menu and turn the color to minumum so that you are watching a black & white picture. Do this to determine if the color offset affects the overall screen or just the lower corner. If the center is off, go to the convergence adjustment menu and align the red and blue onto the green as described in the owners manual. Some models also allow you to align the outer edges as well. If the bottom is still bad you may have a problem in the convergence circuit. If the outlines are not seriously bowed or distorted a minor convergence toutchup by a qualified technician should correct the problem, otherwise parts are involved and the repair is considered major.

Verticle lines

I am woundering if the repair folks did the proper job and used the right IC's as alot of NON authorized shops will use the cheap aftermarket repalcement ICs and not even use any new heat sink compound. 4 repairs in 5 years is very excessive! I would not have called the same shop(s) to do the repairs. Put on the test scren on the TV set and see if the convergence is off. If it is make the shop replace them again for free or ask for your money back. Man what a rippoff that is. Good Luck and keep us informed of your progress with the shop and the repair.
