HP photosmart 3310 scanner won't work

2 weeks ago my 3310 worked fine, then last week, on May 26th, i installed a software update from hp that was supposed to fix problems deleting the printer from the system. A problem i had been having. (I've reinstalled the printer 3 times since September of 2008.)

now the scanner won't work - i get an error message advising to restart the program. restart the computer or reinstall the program. i spent 3 hours deleting and reinstalling the software last week but it does not work still.

any ideas?

Try running antispyware and virus program to eliminate this, housecall is online, thorough and free. It removes it too. Try and see if updating the actual drivers help off HP website. Check settings to see if it is not accidentally set to only print test page or to work offline or similar, uncheck tabs if they are.

dirver conflict, completely remove from OS, take off network and see if HP works independently well. reset on network and share again.

FEW WAYS TO DO IT I MEAN REMOVE PROGRAMS OR PRINTER DEVICES BOTH WAY REQUIRE TO GO INTO THE CONTROL PANEL:

SELECT PRINTER, RIGHT CLICK MOUSE BUTTON AND GO DOWN TO DELETE
AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS

2ND WAY
GO TO PROGRAMS AND FEATURES
OPEN THE FOLDER
WAIT FOR THE PROGRAM EXPAND
GO DOWN TO THE DRIVERS OR PROGRAM
YOU WANT TO REMOVE

My first recommendation is to carry a printer self test. Use the Menu on the front panel to do this ok. If both printers succeed in self test then the problem is reduced. Uninstall the previous drivers for these printers. Connect the printer data cable(USB) to the pc and check for communication. that is, whether or not it is detected by the pc's OS. This should be done one after the other on different ports. If the two printers are attached to same pc, I recommend you use a combination of USB and Parallel printer cables. If communication is successful then detach both cables from the pc. Install the drivers for the USB printer without attaching it to the pc. Then attach when prompted. That way, the printer is guaranteed. For the printer on the parallel port, connect it and install the drivers while attached to the pc. If nothing happens still, you should consider leaving only a printer on the pc. Good luck

What do you need to know?

Hi,

Sorry for the delay. Does this problem occurs when you updated your printer driver?
Did ever this printer worked fine in vista or win 7 other than XP?

Any way from your question I think its a driver related problem. You need to uninstall the hp driver completely or uninstall each separately (like printer, scanner, etc) how many hp softwareze are there in the add or remove uninstall everything.
Or use this hp cleaning ultility here. this software will clean all the left back files of hp and will be able to make a new clean install. Restart the computer after this.
After that download and install your driver from here . If possible install printer scanner photosmart drivers separately. Again restart the computer.

Now do a resetting by :Reset the system by holding down the OK, Cancel, Black, and Color buttons down at the same time and turn the 3310 off. Keep holding the buttons down until the printer shuts off and then turn it back on. You will have to turn the printer off twice and then it will recalibrate.

Can't access internet wireles router says connected hp is a vista

If Nothing else changed in the last 2 weeks, such as a new router, or other hardware changes, AND it just started happening, I suggest you do a "system restore" to a date BEFORE the problem started.
This should correct the problem, and if you did any updates or other software installations, you will need to re install them.

Finally, one option prior to system restoring is to turn off the wireless router (unplug it) and then wait a minute. Plug back in. Then turn on your computer. You can try this first if you haven't already..

My hp c1300 all in one is not scanning!!!

Try this, unplug it from wall. Wait 5 minutes, plug it in & try again. You may have to reinstall the software since it's been awhile. Sometimes the updates that "good old gates" sends us messes with our hardware drivers ect.

HP 3310 All-In-One Photosmart Scanner Failure

rob mate,

i have the same HP three in one and i know its a pain on the back side, when you cant make them work and i have experienced a problem with my machine as well in the past.

I can give you one advise, please go to HP side and download new driver for this.I think its not the machine but the driver itself, which can easily be corrected by downloading a new one from HP web site.

It might be because of your Kaspersky internet security (however i doubt it), but it might have played around with few of HP files.

Do let me know , if you manage to sort it out !

HP Photosmart 3310 All in ONe - only prints partial

Uninstall the Printer software, all of it via ADD/REMOVE programs, then go to device manager and un-install the printer, plus physically un-install it.

re-0install everything fresh and in the printer software, turn off any options to auto update. If the printers working fine then you dont really need the update.

If it aint broke, dont fix it.

If its under warranty, contact HP or check there site, i'll bet theres other people with similar issues, there may be a fix.
