Hello, I have a Sony KDL-40W2000, which from power up has an orange light and the red standby lit. When turned on, it displays a picture for 5-6secs and then shuts down. This happens half a dozen times before going into standby with the red light flashing 9 times. This is a Sony code that indicates an error of DTT Trouble (Communications / BS_CS_PROT). I've checked the voltages on the power supply board and they check out ok. The FEE board seems to be the suspect but what is your opinion?
Replace the card reader board and the problem is solved.
Hi on some sony's you can reset the tv try this, press the arrow up on the remote while holding the power button on the tv for about 5 seconds it may reset, hope it helps
regards
shaun

i know the inverter board can give this sort of problem, you could try resoldering the board!!
I've taken the inverter boards out (2 linked together), reoldering anything that looked suspect and powered up but still the same. When the picture comes up, albeit for a brief time it looks very clean.
there's a possibility that one of the transformer on the inverter board could be causing this or even a faulty lamp/tube, you could disconnect the connectors that are connected to the inverter board one at time swtich the tv on see if stays on
I've disconnected each connector on the inverter boards, all with the same result except that when it goes to the red flashes there are four instead if nine.
Also, during the above process, the orange light flashed red and a Smartlink box showed which said Stop Recording, Yes or No. At another instance, an Auto Tuning Box appeared and auto tuning started before it reset. The orange light which indicates a sleep timer which I have never used. Is this of any relevance?
i'm not sure on this problem, but going back to the inverter i forgot to mention there's 3 fuses in series they look like resistor it's worth checking them,
Hi Shaun, checked those 3 fuses and they are all good. I feel this is a processing problem (going back to the code 9 fault) and I'm only going sort this out by board substitution. Just got to decide which ones. I'm back in the UK this week so I'll try to locate a FEE and a BE (main processor) board and see how it goes. As all the boards are interconnected, I presume that anyone of them could cause this problem.
i don't think it's a main board fault as you have graphics, i hope i'm very wrong but it could be panel fault, let me now the out come good luck

Just to update this thread, I obtained a cheap FEE board from ebay and this immediately fixed the problem.
