Grinder gets jammed

The grinder gets jammed every so often. This requires the unit to be turned upside down and shaken to dislodge the stuck beans. Any ideas?

My grinder is not grinding is it blocked?

if you hear it trying to grind, but is not, or hear it spinning and is not grinding, more than likely it is blocked, or so oily that bean will not drop. Coffee beans, have so much oils in them, that after a while it gets caked up, and beans either get jammed, or stuck. If you hear grinder low humming, then it is probably stuck or clogged, if it is on but hear like a spinning sound, beans are not dropping, because they are stuck because of oil build up. If you can get to the grinder, turn machine off, unplug, get all beans out, if turning up side down to do so, get clean dry terry cloth, and start wiping and cleaning, when you feel your done, spray a LITTLE, no much pam in there, refill and try again. As said early if it is a low humming, like motor turning but jammed, do not use until jam is fixed, you will burn up motor, then have more expensive fix. Let me know if this helped and solved problem. Mr Bean Man from Fixya

Makes funny noise when I try to grind coffee and no ground coffee comes down into the handle. Seems like something is stuck in the grinder.

Machine has major problem with grinding beans.

Try removing all beans from bean holder - then use a vacumn machine to remove the bits down amongst the grinder "teeth'. You may have had a small stone in your coffee and if so it may have jammed the grinder.

Once it looks clean, try making a cup of coffee without the beans in the hopper - you should be able to see and hear the grinder revolving and also hear the brew unit moving between the grinder outlet and the water inlet. If it all seems ok now, then add a small amount of beans back into the beans hopper and try making a coffee. If it still will not work, get it serviced. There's not much the average person can do inside these units other than to do more serious damage or kill themselves with an electric shock.

Grinder Blocked said on screen. Any Quick fixes?

This has happened to me twice. Usually caused by a trapped bean in the grinder. Here is how I fixed it. It is easy.

Inside the plastic bean hopper is a screw located in the bottom. Remove it and lift off the hopper. Have someone help you as you turn the machine upside down to remove all the beans. Use a tooth pick or a wooden skewer to pick out any beans lodged inside the grinder housing. Once completed, return the unit to its upright position.

Look inside the hopper and locate the grinder stem which is gold colored. On top of the stem is a hex bolt. Take a hex wrench with a 7/16 hex socket, connect it to the grinder hex bolt and turn it "counter clockwise" about half way which is the same direction the grinder turns. Add some beans and see if it works. If not, turn the hex bot "clockwise" a half to a full turn. Add beans and check.

This helps move the grinder out of its "stuck" position.

Hello. grinder won't grind

HI
Sounds like you have a blockage in you grind passage. Try removing the brew group. Then inside the machine where the brew unit was setting there is a drop chute where the coffee is dropped into the brew unit. This will be above where the brew unit was. From the left side of the drop chute pull down and back, and it will drop coffee. This will clear an opening that relieves pressure on the passage. There is a passage inside the drop chute area that goes to the grinder. Vacuum it out. It will be on the right side of the drop chute.
Once that is cleared go to the bean hopper. There are 2 knobs in the bean hopper. Turn the large knob to the largest number. You can turn the knob to a larger number any time but it has to be grinding to turn to a smaller number. Now replace everything and make your coffee. Once you have made your coffee you can turn the knob back to a number that was higher than the one you had it on, but only when the grinder is running.

Not Coffee just Hot Water

runner, sounds like you've got a jam up! Remove all the coffee you can If you can, try to remove the burr and clean whatever you find out. Now, turn the unit upside down over the sink to remove everything messy. Then, turn the unit upside down over a newspaper and tap the unit a couple of times to dislodge what may be jamming it. Put it all back and you may be okay. Otherwise, you'll have to dig deeper into the unit to remove the coffee bean 'stuff' that is jamming it. You may even be able to flush it out with warm water. Be sure to air dry everything before reloading with coffee.
