Question about Koss KS3102 System

Open Question

Our unit is a Koss home theatre unit, model KS3102.

The electrical cord at back of this unit says "POWER, AC, 120 VOLTS, 60 HZ, 500 WATTS. However, OUR VOLTAGE IN THE PHILIPPINES IS 220V, 60HZ. i noted that THERE IS AN ATTACHED NOTE/CAUTION PASTED AT THE CORD NEAR THE PLUG WHICH SAYS: "CAUTION: THIS UNIT IS ORIGINALLY SET TO 220V. When using 110V, set voltage selector s/w to 110V." May I know where the voltage selector is located in the unit or what should we do SO we can plug the unit to 220V electrical supply? Where and how can I get hold of a manual for this unit? - BUDDY

SOURCE: Koss KS3102 - Audio Problems

I think I have had the same problem. It seems like the system resets itself randomly. I think if you first turn it on in AV-1 or AV-2 mode, then hit the menu button on the remote, then scroll to ihe 'input'option, hit that then pick 'digital'. Do this for both AV-1&2. UI hope this fixes your problem!

SOURCE: KS3102 Digital Optical Input Problem

What I did was turn on the system, don't put in any dvd in, or select an output 1 or 2. Press Menu on the remote, the display on the system display, not on tv should show Speaker, and other options. Select Input, select the one you want to use as the Optical Sound by press enter, then it will ask you on the system display input or optical sound input. Select optical input and press enter it will then say saved. You can then hit exit til goes back to where the display is back on main screen, or just wait til it exit by itself.

In moving I am unable to find the AC charger and plug cord for my Electric Houdini. This is brand new - never used !

What voltage is the AC ? 120V 60 Hz ??
Found this but it is for 120V 60 HZ
http://www.rabbitwine.com/replacement-parts/adapter-6-volt-2925-series-647771.html
however if your AC power is 240 volts 50Hz you need to keep looking !
What is an electric houndi - is it a electric cord screw ? this is my guess ?
Important note the 6v DC and the 80mA current rating on power AC- DC pack. If there is any marking on your Houdini similar make sure voltage is 6v DC and current is 80mA or less .

suggest you contact rabbit wine if your ac is 240 Volts and is not 120v 60 hz on the www,rabbitwine.com web site contact link or if DC voltage does not match. Or for advise on if it matches your device.

I have steamvac 120 V 60 HZ 7.9 A im going to use in my country Argentina 220 V 50 HZ input i need a tranfo 220V 110 V and who many watts?????

220 volts at 7.39 amps = 1738 watts
120 volts at 7.9amps = 948 watts so any unit capable of 1000 watts at the 110 volts will do the trick

Oster Fpstdh0101 4tray Electric Food Dehydrator wattage

well, I'm guessing on the tag or label it shows something like this
120V ~ 60 hz 10.5 amps or
120V ~ 60 hz 10.5A or
120V ~ 60hz 11A (some manufactures round up if it falls into the same wire gauge)
120Volts ~ 60hz 1260w or
120Volts ~ 60HZ 1260 watt
120V stands for normal operating voltage
"~" means ac current
60 herzts stands for how many cycles

So if your unit shows only amps, it's really simple to figure out wattage

take the voltage shown, in my example it's 120, then multiply the amps, in my example it's 10.5. So 120 X 10.5 = 1260 watts

W = V * A

and vice versus, if it only show wattage and you needed to know what gauge wire you needed to run a receptical to operate it

AMPERAGE = VOLTS / WATTAGE

At 3600 rpms generator produces 133 volts AC

You cannot, speed is propertional to voltage on these, as they have capacitor voltage regulation. Do not use this for powering home appliances, it is common to see this design and not a problem. If you add load and it will decrease but so will the frequency

Hi - I purchased a JVC TH-S3 Home Theatre System in the UK. It is set up for 240v 50Hz input. How do I convert it to operate on 110v 60Hz?

Check the unit for a sticker stating it's electrical approval numbers. There should be the voltage and cycles required. There could well be a switch of some description near this sticker Saying 120-240 with an arrow showing which way to put the switch to change the voltage. This usually involves removing a plate of some description to stop someone changing it by mistake. Don't forget the cycles as well. The UK uses 50hz or 50 cycles whilst the USA uses 60 cycles. Using the wrong one could burn the power supply out and even cause a fire. Many smaller electrical items are self seeking when it comes to power supplies but large components such as TVs and HiFi units are usually set.

If the sticker says 240 volts 50 hz then thats for the UK
If it has 120 volts 60 hz as well then it's possible to use in the US. Luckily it has a dual power supply built in. The chances of this is rather rare so you could have a boat anchor instead of a HiFi

Whatever you do DON'T just chabge the plug and try it out. There'll be smoke for sure.

If you are unsure get it checked by an electrician.

One way out would be to buy a transformer which changes the 120 volts to 240 volts but you will still have the cycles to worry about. So unless the cycles are changeable you can't use the hifi in the US.

Sorry for the bad news If it's not too large it's possible to recover some money by selling in on Ebay in The UK or Australia or any other country using 240/50hz

Wattage for Kirby Sentria G10D

The conversion of Amps to Watts is governed by the equation
Watts = Amps x Volts

For example 1 amp @ 110 volts = 110 watts
your case 7 amp @ 120 volts = 840 watts
unless you are running it at 230v but I don't think you can
I would look for one rated for Volt-Amps instead of watts
It's best to round up to be safe add 40 - 60 watts
