Yahoo mail is VERY slow

My yahoo mail is very slow, I don't know why but it seems to work really slow in the last days? anyone noticed it also? I have experienced the same problem since the Chat features were added to Yahoo. My Yahoo Mail is VERY SLOW!! 10 to 15 seconds to open an email, or to do anything. I will have to find out about Google Chrome - how would it affect Yahoo mail? If anyone has any recommendations on how to address the EXTREME slowness of Yahoo mail I would appreciate it. I have had my same email address for over 11 years and definately do not want to change it!

I also use chrome but only the Yahoo site seems to be running very slow, like dial up. really tired of my Yahoo homepage with their big blow up ads right at the top!

My yahoo email account has been great for over ten years but in the past month or so it has slowed to a crawl, at best. Doesn't matter where it's accessed from. And it's only MY yahoo mail. Wife's still runs great. I literally have to push the check/delete button 10 times to get anything to happen. And sometimes even that won't do it. Think it's infected or something because this started overnight. However, I have up to date anti spam/virus software and everything other than yahoo mail runs great. Any thoughts?

I am a Computer Software Expert. I believe that Yahoo! has lately made silly mistakes in their Yahoo! Mail in software/hardware side. The Mail is extremely slow even I have a super computer. This problem is Yahoo! Mail's problem; it has nothing to do with your PC as anyone uses it will suffer nowadays. In the past, it was nice and fast. Now it is Yahoo! Garbage Mail, so they should change the name!

It is very slow. I have tried from work (LAN), home (high speed cable) and on the road. Still sometimes it won't open or take forever to open an email/reply to an email. Definitely something on their end. Doesn't matter whether it's Classic or Regular or Plus. Still very slow. And I even pay for this. What gives Yahoo?? Are you trying to push users to another email client??

Yes I am seeing the same SLOWNESS and stickiness when using Yahoo mail. When I go to do anything it seems to get stuck - somertimes just for a few seconds and other timesI actually have to exit Yahoo Mail and relaunch to continue. I don't think it is my computer because I keep a close eye on viruses and such. Also it seems to be more prevalent when I am doing anything through Yahoo. I don't want to change my mail e-mail to a different provider because in general I like how yahoo is formatted but It may soon be time to say goodbye to an old friend... Good luck!

My Yahoo Mail is running very, very slow lately. It is taking me 10 times longer to check my emails. THis slow down has occurred recently, over the last week or two. Today it is the worst ever. I have the fastest internet service around and a quick computer. All my other sites run nice and quick. It is definately an issue with Yahoo specifically. What can I do to speed it up? I will have to change to a different e-mail server otherwise. It took me 3 hours today to check my email from the last 3 days. Rediculous. It should have taken me 20 minutes. Please help!

Have you found any answers? Mine is doing the same thing today and yesterday... VERY frustrating.

  • Anonymous Aug 19, 2012

I switched to Google Chrome and all my internet runs very fast now. My Yahoo alone is at least 10x faster. It's amazing and super easy to switch over. There are many more benefits to Google Chrome than just the speed though. I love it!

To fix this, in Yahoo!Mail, click the Gear, go to Mail options and then select 'Basic' under advanced settings. Click Save.
You loose some functionality but at least it runs faster.

K ..if you suspect that its the server problem, then try switching back to yahoo mail classic.its faster than the new yahoo mail, but it lacks many features. but for your information, i didnt find it so slower when i used my new yahoo mail.just check out your connection and internet settings for your browser.

My solution... switch to Google Mail. Very fast. In some ways, much easier to use. Filters work better. More intuitive. Lots of options as well.

Also, unlike Yahoo, it coordinates with email clients, in my case, Thunderbird.

I want to change my newest yahoo mail to yahoo classic mail

Try changing to a lower screen resolution size first. For some people, this works and forces Yahoo to ask you if you want to revert back to Mail Classic. This fix does not work for everyone though, but do try it.

If this doesn't work, go to the help pages and contact Yahoo through there. I've previously sent people instructions on how to contact Yahoo to restore Mail Classic, but I've found out recently that Yahoo is extremely slow in responding through that avenue, sometimes they don't even respond.

Yahoo requires written authorization to restore your Mail Classic, so when you do contact them, you need to tell them that you do want it restored.

They also want feedback, they want to know why you're wanting to change back so they can better improve the new version.

The new version is full of bugs, I've responded to hundreds of people wanting to change back.

Good luck.

I don't like the new messenger mail at all!!!! Is there any way i can get back my original yahoo mail I had before I made the stupid mistake of upgrading it ?

Straight from the Yahoo help page:

We have removed the "Return to Original Mail" link from the help menu as we're strongly encouraging all users to migrate to the newest version of Yahoo! Mail. We will continue to invest heavily in the latest version of Yahoo! Mail, further improving it and delivering more compelling features to our users.

We know that changing to a new interface can seem daunting, so we've done everything possible to make the transition easy. We have created help pages specifically for users who have recently switched to the newest version of Yahoo! Mail, highlighting differences that you may notice:http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ymail/migrating/.

I also got tricked into trying out the new Yahoo and I hate it too but I wont rest until I find a way to go back.

Yahoo mail site slow when using IE

Hi,
It looks as if you are using older version of IE.
Download IE 8 and see the improvement in speeds.

Or if you still need a faster browser, download Opera web browser.

Are other sites slow for you?

If so, check your link or check any downloads - could also check the version of flash you have installed on your machine.

If just Yahoo, see if anyone else you know has problems- myself am accessing yahoo UK mail fine here, but never know.
