VHS tape will not eject and unit shuts down

It's not loading correctly. You need to open the cover (unplug first) and get familiar with the loading mechanism. You can get the tape out by rotating the loading motor wheel.

The TV seems to have a failing Power Supply. This could potentially be repaired but would be an out of warranty expense.

Toshiba d-vr660 shuts off when video is inside

If the problem is the vcr section you load a tape and it shuts down, it probably is the idler assembly that is not transporting tape correctly. I recommend a vcr/tv tech to check the unit with an estimate.

I have a Sharp DV-RW550U VCR/DVD Recorder

check for bad capacitors (make sure its top is not bulged), check for bad step down transformer on unit. one or more of these may need to be replaced, if you are replacing faulty capacitors, make sure they are of same uF ratings, the unit will accept a +/- tolerance difference of 10%

Magnavox VCR/DVD recorder model ZV450mw8. VCR plays a tape for 6 seconds then shuts the whole unit down.

You will need a technical person to open the unit. This problem can be as simple as a dirty sensor, or bad tape drive parts, or burned out computer chip.

Philips MRV700VR DVD Recorder / VCR Combo

Crack the top open and look inside for any foreign matter. Usually the cause is debris in the IR path that detects start and end of tape or the loading mechanisim is faulty.
