I have a John Wood one pipe power vented hot water heater. The model number is Jw840nvh-fv-04. Recently I've been smelling products of combustion coming out the top of the tank where the vent is

1) Copy following link for troubleshoot resources by type of gas control valve, Venting resources, and pro water heater forum:

2) This odor can indicate incomplete combustion due to lack of air supply. Get more fresh air to unit. Check that flame is clear blue color. John Wood is American/AO Smith product so air intake screen is located on bottom of unit. Use mirror and flashlight to inspect. Clean with compressed air ad or feather duster.

3) Jw840nvh is 40 gallon natural gas. Natural gas is lighter than air and rises upward, unlike propane gas that is heavier than air. Install gas detector at height correct for type of gas.

4) For safety, install CO carbon monoxide detector

5) Review product manual for correct vent lengths and diameters.

I have a concentric vent on my furnace. I put a vent cap on top because it goes there the roof. I am getting water in the furnace fron the fresh air intake. I can't seem to find out why. Could the

most concentric vent kits do not have a cap on the exhaust termination. if they do they are usually approved for use with that particular vent kit. most of the concentric vents i have seen have terminated through the side wall of the house and have no "rain cap" on them. if the cap you put on the vent is one you "home made" then you need to remove it and get one that is approved for use on your make of vent. I suspect that the water you are getting running down the air intake part of the vent may be water that has condensed from the exhaust fumes. If the cap is an approved one then you may have a leak in the exhaust pipe section of the vent and I would suggest you call an expert in to verify the integrity of the venting system

Water under dryer after use. cleaned exhaust lint in it was wet. should i insulate exhaust tubing. [email protected]

Dryer would be either leaking from vent or due to condensation. The vent may either be blocked. The water is coming from the clothes you have dried in the dryer and it has no where to go.
You need to dismantle the vent and clean it, replace it with new vent. The dryer may now be consuming more time to dry the same load of clothes. By correcting the venting problem you will solve the water problem and shorten your wash day and save on electricity as well.

Another issue is condensation which usually appears on the dryer vent pipe colder climates. As the warm air from the dryer is vented to the outside, it must be protected from the cold temperatures outside. If your dryer vent pipe is not properly insulated, the air that is being vented out will turn into water when it comes into contact with the cold pipe outside. This results in condensation and dripping water. To resolve this, you must insulate your dryer vent pipe along its entire length. This will ensure that the hot air from the dryer does not undergo temperature fluctuations, and no water will leak into the vent pipe. Hope this helps... I have a saniflo macerator toilet system and when flushed, the pump does not immediately come on and the water level rises up pretty high. only then the pump comes on for a second or two but the bowl does...

Did you put an 1 1/2" vent pipe? It must be vented to the open air. Air must flow in and out of the vent pipe at all times so it can work properly. I had the same issue but after removing the cheater vent from the vent pipe it solved my problem. They do not recommend using an air admittance valve, cheater or mechanical vent on the vent pipe, as it only allows air to flow in or out.

I haye a power vent hot water heater that wont light . the fan continues to run what could be wrong

The problem is probably in the pressure switch. The switch is usually a round thing with a hose or two going to it.
You must figure out though if the vent is blocked or if the switch is bad. Check the vent outside to make sure that air is coming out. If no air or little air is coming out of the vent then your vent may be blocked and the pressure switch is keeping the burner from coming on because of that. If air flow is okay then the switch is probably bad. Replace the pressure switch.

LG WM-2077 Water leaks out of the Air Vent on the back

Be sure you are using HE detergent and only about 1 Tablespoon for a load. You are ending up with too many bubbles in the machine and when it goes to spin the bubbles come out the air vent. There is a valve that closes during spin but bubbles are not strong enough to lift the valve it has to be water hitting it before it closes.
