The only way to solve a Machine Error 38 is if there is an item/broken paper inside the machine that you can actually reach. Judging by the sound your machine seem to make, I'd rather guess that you got a mechanical error on your hands, which would require the machine to be sent to service to have it solved. Check for bits of paper or other loose items, otherwise - service.

Have a brother DCP- 115C and had a paper jam, I removed the paper from the printer cleared the jam and now printer is telling me Unable to clean see Trouble shooting and routine maintenance in users...

The proper reset code sequence to reset DCP printers without numeric keypad should be as follows:
1. press buttons Set, Menu, Mono Start one by one, followed by up arrow key four times. this should all be done as short a time as possible, around 3 seconds.
2. enter maintenance mode 80 by pressing the up/down arrow key and set key to select numbers 8 and 0
3. press up arrow key several times to get to the Purge item
4. enter 2, 7, 8 and 3 using arrow/set keys to reset the counter
5. press Stop/Exit key to go to root of maintenance mode
6. enter 9,9 to exit maintenance mode
(for printers with numeric keypad):
Resetting purge counter on: MFC-620CN / MFC-420CN / MFC-410CN / MFC-210C and FAX-2440C:
1. Enter machine maintenance mode (on MFC-210C all four photo/copy/fax/scan lights flash in maintenance mode). Care is needed in maintenance mode, otherwise critical settings may be inadvertently corrupted.
FAX models with numerical keypads: Press the Menu/Set, *, 2, 8, 6 and 4 keys within two seconds. (if you fail to complete the correct key sequence within two seconds, press the Stop key to try again).
Other (non-FAX) models: Press the Menu/Set and Black Start keys. Next press the “up arrow” key four times to enter the maintenance mode.
2. Press the 8 then 0 keys in the initial stage of the maintenance mode to call up the machine's log information list (function code 80).
3. Press the Black Start key several times to scroll through the log information list to reach the purge counter. The purge counter is the 25th item in the list.
4. Press the 2, 7, 8, and 3 keys in this order to reset the purge count to zero.
5. Press the Stop/Exit key to return to the initial stage of the maintenance mode.
6. Press the 9 key twice to return to the standby state.

Message unable to print 50

Machine Error 50 either means that there is a loose object inside the machine (usually piece of paper), or that there is a mechanical error which would need you to have the machine sent to service.

Brothers mfc 620cn does not print incoming fax

If you're just trying to receive a fax over the phone line, the computer and software are irrelevant. For testing purposes, I would unplug the USB and network. Make sure the phone line is plugged into the jack marked LINE, not EXT, which for an extension phone or answering machine. If it's not sharing a line with regular phones, it should be in FAX mode to answer all calls automatically.
You can do some testing without another fax. Call it from another phone line - even a cell phone. It should answer after a few rings (how many is programmed in the menus of the fax) and annoy you with that high squeal in your ear. If it does that much, you need another fax to call it to learn more.
Are you on a regular, old-fashioned phone line? If you have one of those digital package deals with TV, Internet, and phone, you may not have the high voltages necessary to signal a fax. In that case call your cable company and tell them your woes. They should be able to provide the adapter you need.

"unable to clean"

Hi dbostrander.
First check for foreign objects in the paper path. Check if you have any faxes in memory because you will lose them when removing power; see later.
Pull out the paper tray from the front and check for paper jams or torn paper anywhere inside the machine. Also check the 'jam clear screen' at the back of the printer. Remove the cover, remove any obstacle then replace ther cover. From the front of the machine lift the top cover from the right side till it is fully open on the slide. Check for jams. If the jam is under the print head you will have to disconnect the power (losing any faxes in memory *see below) to move the print head out of the way to clear the jam.Lift the scanner cover to release the lock. Gently push the scanner cover support down and close the scanner cover.
Check whether the MFC has faxes in
memory
1.Press Menu/Set, 9, 0, 1.
2. If the MFC has no faxes, disconnect the MFC
from the power source for several minutes
and then reconnect it then do as above.

—OR—
If faxes are present, you can transfer them to
another fax machine
If you have not set up your Station ID, you
cannot enter fax transfer mode.
3.Enter the fax number to which faxes will be
forwarded.
4.Press Mono Start.
5.After the faxes are transferred, disconnect
the MFC from the power source for several
minutes and then reconnect it.
You can transfer the Fax Journal report to
another fax machine by pressing Menu/Set, 9,0, 2 in step 1.

Hope this helps,
Mark.
