SOURCE: poor photo printing quality with new color cartridge

Shaking these cartridges does nothing except give you a little exercise. If this is a brand new HP cartridge you are having problems with I would return it to the store you purchased it from. HP brand cartridges should not give you these problems right out of the box. The print defects you are seeing are due to a dried up or clogged print head. If you like you can try hydrating the print head on a water soaked paper towel until the ink starts flowing, but there's a risk you will cross contaminate the colors.

SOURCE: Refilled my #21 cartridge, poor or quality or nothing is printed.

You have an air bubble between your print head and ink supply. This is something that commonly happens when you hand fill these cartridges. These cartridges need to be filled under vacuum to prevent this from happening. I recommend refills from Cartridge World because they have good prices with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Prints with a double vision quality

Use the print alignment feature and follow the directions precisely. If the print heads won't align properly to get a clear image in the self-tests... get a new printer. It isn't worth repairing. If your cartridges are fairly full, buy another Canon that uses the same cartridges and install them on the new machine... keeping the unopened ones for spares. This will help defray the cost a little.

How do I cure blurry printing please?

You don't say what type of printer you have (some have built-in utilities that can guide you to correct things) but generally speaking, if text print is coming out blurry, you may want to look at the following:

1) Check your ink cartridge. Is it dirty? Is it plugged (clogged)? A good cleaning may help by removing your ink cartridge and swabbing the print head nozzle (check your manual for location) with isopropyl alcohol with a cotton Q-tip. Run a test print. Still a problem? You may need to do this about 3 or 4 times before it clears. If your printer head is way down indide the printer, you can get an eye dropper and drop some isopropyl alcohol on it.

2) Check your quality settings. Perhaps someone had changed the settings from "Best Quality," for instance, to "Draft." Make your changes and click Save. Run a test print.

3) Check your paper type. Do you have the right type of paper for your printer? Inkjet printers require inkjet paper, whereas laser printers require laser paper. Mixing the two will produce poor print quality. I am assuming you have normal copy paper in your printer tray, which is fine.

4) Check for printer software updates. Have you tried reinstalling your printer again, especially your printer drivers? If your printer is an older model, perhaps a software update is needed. Go to the manufacturers website and see if there are any new print drivers for your model. Run a test print.

5) Replace your print cartridge. This could simply be an issue of your cartridge being too old, drying up or defective. After installing new cartridge, run a test print.

Hope this helps!

HP A636 will not print yellow; tricolor cartridge is new

  • Align the print cartridge.
The printer automatically aligns the print cartridge after a new one is installed. You can also align the print cartridge at other times to ensure optimal print quality. Indications that you need to align the print cartridge manually include borderless prints with white space
along an edge, colors not printing satisfactorily, or poor print quality.

To align the print cartridge from the printer
  1. Load a sheet of HP Advanced Photo Paper in the input tray.
  2. Touch the Setup icon to display the Setup menu. For more information, see "Setup Menu" on page 16.
  3. Touch Cartridge.
  4. Touch Align Cartridge and follow the prompts.

Clean the print cartridge automatically.
If the printed pages are missing lines or dots or contain ink streaks, the print cartridge might be low on ink or need to be cleaned.
CAUTION: Clean the print cartridge only when necessary.
Unnecessary cleaning wastes ink and shortens the life of the cartridge.

  • Clean the cartridge.
Follow these steps to clean the cartridge automatically:
To clean the print cartridge from the printer,
  1. Touch the Setup icon to display the Setup menu. For more information, see "Setup Menu" on page 16.
  2. Touch Cartridge.
  3. Touch Clean Cartridge and follow the prompts.
If the documents are still missing lines or dots after cleaning, replace the print cartridge.

I have a C4240 All-In-One HP printer. I just put in a new black cartridge. The alignment page prints, however, when I scan it according to the direction, it fails. This has not happened before. I would...

This may be a long shot, however, have you tried to replace the old cartridge and see what happens?

Given that one may be out of ink, the printer may not accept "a call to print" as my hp printer, but I am thinking that either you may have a defective cartridge or otherwise somehow did not install the cartridge through the correct install method - meaning that if you manually slid the cartridge holder over to insert the new one, it may need to me manually moved back (typically hp has a button to depress to "call" the cartridge holder over towards the center to insert a new one...)

FINALLY -- if it is color - check the ink levels to be sure they have ink - my HP gets real finicky when the color cartridges are nearing empty...

Best Regards
Ck

My canon mp470 prints blurry images. what to do?

Blurry images are produced due to poor functioning of the cartridges. This is mainly due to the fact that you either just re-filled the cartridges or you purchased poor cartridges. Buying new ones might be of help.

Secondly, ensure that you aligned the cartridge heads well. Go to your installed printer software to and perform a nozzle clean.

MY LEXMARK 4505 LEAVES 3-4 BLACK BLOTCHES ON THE EDGE OF EACH PAPER IT PRINTS, TRIED CLEANING THE ROLLERS TO NO AVAIL, ANY SUGESTIONS

ADJUST THE COLOR AND PRINT SPEED You may need to adjust the color and print speed. CHECK THE LEVEL OF INK IN THE PRINT CARTRIDGES 1 From the Finder desktop, double-click the Lexmark X5400 Series folder. 2 Double-click the Lexmark X5400 Series Utility icon. 3 From the Maintenance tab, check the ink levels of the cartridges. If an exclamation point (!) appears on a cartridge, the ink level is low. Install a new cartridge. Improving print quality These are possible solutions. Try one or more of the following: CHECK PAPER • Use the appropriate paper for the document. If you are printing photos or other high-quality images, for best results use Lexmark Photo Paper or Lexmark PerfectFinish Photo Paper. Do not use Lexmark Premium Photo Paper. Your print cartridges are not compatible with this type of paper. • Use a paper that is a heavier weight or bright white. CHECK PRINT CARTRIDGES If the document still does not have the print quality you want, follow these steps: 1 Align the print cartridges. For more information, see "Aligning print cartridges" on page. If print quality has not improved, continue to step 2. 2 Clean the print cartridge nozzles. For more information, see "Cleaning the print cartridge nozzles" . If print quality has not improved, continue to step 3. 3 Remove and reinsert the print cartridges. For more information, see "Removing a used print cartridge" on and "Installing print cartridges" . Poor print quality. suspect bad ink cartridge. Replaced and still same problem. Model mfc-4420c

Sounds like a setting maybe wrong or you need to perform a deep cleaning. This happens if you get a bad refill cartridge, the recycled cartridges do this often. Replace the cartridge and perform a deep Cleaning and alignment. This should resolve the problem.

I have poor print quality on my Lexmark 4550

That obviously shouldn't happen. Did you print an alignment page after you inserted the new cartridges? There could also be some clogged nozzles on the new cartridges. If you haven't contacted Lexmark technical support through www.lexmark.com, suggest you do so.
