ink cartridges replaced ink not registering printer printing blank pages

  • Anonymous Feb 09, 2008

New cartridges show ink levels at full, but when printing nothing is written to the page.

  • Anonymous Mar 19, 2008

I replaced my color ink cartridges when my printer told me they were out but when I tried to print after that the pages came out blank. After an afternoon of trying to get it to print my printer informed me that my ink is out and needs to be replaced. They are completely full but I can't use my printer at all without buying brand new ones. How can I reset my printer to realize the cartridges are full?

Printer called for replacement of ink. I did so. Printer won't print a thing. Won't copy either. Cleaned the heads, still won't print. Unplugged and replugged everything. Are the new ink cartridges faulty????? There is a little computer chip, could that be faulty? Should I be returning the cartridges and getting my money back? I paid beaucoup bucks for them.

I have had problems with this printer ever since I stopped using it for an extended period of time. When I would try using it again (after sitting for a while), only a few of the colors would print. I'd clean it, try it again, clean it, try printing again, etc. Nothing. I wouldn't just do the nozzle clean, I'd take the actual cartridges out and use a q-tip with rubbing alcohol. So now, I decided to pick up some ink this past weekend after the printer being out of commission for about a year (I've been hesitant because of the hassle involved, as you can imagine). Cleaned the nozzles, with through the whole song and dance. Even tried using Fantastic and leaving that on for a while to let the cleaner break up all the old stuff. What do you think happens? Just blue prints. Nothing else, even after black worked the other day. I'll tell you what I plan on doing tomorrow....I plan on taking my $60+ in ink back to the store and using it towards the purchase of a new printer. I am DONE with this machine.

Don't buy again from this crappy company. I sure learned my lesson too. sorry but the truth is the truth. I've had enought of the latest "give them them it cheap now, but screw them later" mentality these companies have.

I have an hp psc 1215 all-in-one. My black cartridge won't print. It recognises if I swap it out for a new one, and goes through all the motions. It registers the correct ink levels. The cradle...

The problem is not with the ink-cartridges. You've proved that, by swapping BLACK cartridges.

The problem is that the ink-jets that spray the BLACK ink onto the paper are clogged.
Thus, no BLACK ink reaches the paper.

Open the HP Printing Assistant, and open Utilities, and run a few "print-head-cleaning" cycles, to try to unclog the print-head.

I have replaced black ink cartridge 73N message on screen says Error i press ok to proceed message goes back saying replace ink cartridge?

The main problem in using the latest Epson printers, is the ink replacements. Ink cartridges like 73N has its own ink reseter (the little chip in front of the cartridge). Once you replaced the ink without using the right procedures, for example you have a 10% remaining ink level on one of the cartridge, and you replaced it without using the setup menu and selecting the replace ink cartridge, even though the cartridge is new, the printer will read the replaced cartridge as a 10% ink level cartridge. When the remaining 10%, drops to 0%, your cartridge will read as an empty cartridge. The chip on the cartridge is registered as an empty cartridge.
-try to replace the ink reseter or try to clean the cartridge chip then put back the ink.

I received an error message that ink cartridges needed replacing. I replaced the ones stated and checked the ink levels on the computer. The report is that the ones replaced are at 100% and the others have...

If you are using refilled (worst cartridges) or third party cartridges then that is most likely the problem.

If you are using factory new HP cartridges, then you need to contact HP to get the cartridges replaced.

Hello there:
This problem is usually due to a print head that needs to be replaced
I have provided the information that you will need ok

This document provides information on how to replace a printhead or ink cartridge.A printhead may need replacing when print quality issues cannot be resolved by cleaning the printheads or a front-panel display message indicates a printhead needs to be replaced. An ink cartridge needs replacing when a front-panel display message indicates either:

  • Ink cartridge approaching expiration date

Ink level didn't change

s.gif Deskjet 5100 series
  1. Click Start or c01319360.gif , click All Programs , click Hewlett-Packard , and then click Printer Assistant .
  2. Click Utilities .
  3. Click View ink levels .
    • If a cartridge is low on ink, discontinue these steps, replace the cartridge, and then try printing again.
    • If the cartridges contain a sufficient amount of ink, continue to the next step.
  4. Click Printer Maintenance .
  5. Click Clean Cartridges .
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions.
ISSUE: After installing a new HP Inkjet print cartridge, the ink level indicator remains at the previous level. SOLUTION: Continue to print and ignore the ink level indicator. The print cartridge is full of ink, it just is not being measured accurately.

How to reset the ink level for a HP 60 ink cartridge? I have just refilled a HP 60 black ink cartridge but can not find anything on how to reset the ink level. I would do the "3 ink cartridge" trick but I...

You cannot reset the ink level indicator for the HP 60 ink cartridge. It shouldn't matter anyway because the level is only estimated for "management purposes only" (see user manual) meaning to let you know when it's near time to order a new cartidge. I have tried cycling through 3 different cartridges to reset the ink level for the one I refilled but it didn't work. Refill and just ignore the ink level indicator. Also, it's a good idea to clean the print heads with the solvent in the refill kit before refilling to remove old ink and imrpove print quality.

HP Deskjet F4280 Ink Level

Hi,
when you refill the cardtridge, you can not reset the ink level... because refilling doesn't show the ink levels.. you no need to worry. if ink is there in the carttridge it will print...
Shouldn't worry about it. They are only a rough guide. The only time to worry about it is when the printer stops working and it has told you it's run out of ink! Thank you.......

Ink "new" , yet not registering as any in machine. Help please.

I'll bet you're using cheap generic ink, after having used real Brother ink cartridges. It sees and it knows the ink is generic (apparently by measuring the electrical resistance of the ink). I'm in the midst of the same issue and am going to try using real Brother cartridges to see if the problem goes away.

How do I reset the ink levels?

We have an issue of missing or replace yellow cartridge. Please feel free to contact the HP support for replacement of the printer, if the printer is in warranty status. HP would replace the printer.
