Question about Samsung Galaxy S GTI9000 Smartphone

Phone fell in water

My phone fell in the "clean" toilet bowl. I took everything out and towel dried the phone. Put back in the battery and turned it on. Turned on fine but started to stick within 30 seconds. Took out everything again and dried it some more put back in the battery and phone froze again but then screen disappered and turned green. I know have it in a container of rice.

If it's at the point where the screen isn't working properly, it's dead. If you have some kind of extended warranty, it may cover it, but there's no real way to bring it back from being water damaged, unfortunately.

SOURCE: my Samsung Alias wont completely start up!

I'm very sorry to say your phone is not going to work again. It has clearly been damaged from sitting 4 ft under water for over an hour.

The phone was on, you dropped it and the water found its way inside and shorted it out. It's a miracle that it is able to turn on at all.

The rice method does work if your phone got splashed with water or fell in water and was taken out promptly.

Sorry about your misfortune, you will need to replace your phone. Thank you for trying Fixya!

any water or liquid exposure on the phone will damage it's mother board. It needs to be fixed and needs a replacement on other parts on it, there is no assurance that it can still be fixed.

If it's a new phone, take it to the place that you purchased from and have them check it out. Make sure you take your box, charger, and paperwork and receipts with you. Good Luck.

First thing is take out the battery and dry the battery with a towel or paper towel. Allow it to dry for a while and in the meantimelet you phone dry out. There is suppose to be a seal around the phones main board to keep out moisture so if it didn't get to wet it should be OK. After about 30 minutes the battery should be dry enough to put back in and then try to turn the phone on. In most cases it will work.

My phone screen went blank after dropping in the toilet

You should have left it dry instead of turning it on, you probably have corrosion now, find a local place that works on phones to see if they'd work on it.

If you want to try to completely dry it, put it in rice for 24 hours minimum to draw out all moisture.

My samsung impression dropped in water and touch screen broke

I also dropped my Samsung Impression in the toilet, I immediately took the phone took the protective case off, took the battery cover off, and took the battery and my SIM card out and towel dried it as best as I could. Then I sat it on the floor next to my fan and let it dry until I got to my grandparents a little while later and I put it in a bowl of rice, completely covered the phone and battery with rice and left it sit overnight in the rice and all of the next day, so far i've had it on about 20 minutes and have had no problems with it so far, another solution is to sit it in the sun, to further dry it out. Water damage will void warranties on your phone and battery and your provider will know instantly if the damage was water related when they take your battery cover off, there is a small square sticker that when dry and hasn't touched water should be white, but as soon as it comes into contact with water it turns red, there is also one of these stickers on the battery. My stickers were red and after sitting in the rice they look like they got lighter in color considerably, I don't know if that is really possible but appearance wise it looks that way. I hope this helps anyone who has had this problem. Good Luck!

Got water damage and wont turn on

I dropped my phone in the toilet and surprisingly it still works. First I took the battery off and dried the phone and battery as much as I could. Then I took my blow dryer and a towel where I folded the towel in half and positioned the phone and the blow dryer under the towel and left it going for about an hour. The next day I took the phone and sat it in the sun until the inside moisture was gone. Then I charged it my phone has been working fine ever since and that was nearly two months ago.

My phone fell in the toilet idk what to do!!

I am not sure if this will help but here goes anyway. I assume you immediately removed the phone from the toilet when it fell in. Here is what I did in a similar circumstance. My wife once dropped her car keys and remote in the toilet while she was at work. Once she got home, I opened the unit up and using a hair dryer carefully dried off the printed circuit board. I then replaced the battery. The remote is still working today. Good luck! Whether this works out for you or not you should tell your Mom about it. Accidents do happen - my guess is she will understand.

I dropped my sidekick 2008 in the toilet

really the only thing to do in this case is to let it dry COMPLETELY before putting any power to it. if you let it dry completely now it may still work but if you tried it already and it failed i doubt it. try a new battery if it wont turn on. i dropped my nokia in the toilet and let it dry for 3 days then it worked; had a buddy spill his bottle of beer on my blackberry and after the defrost and over night it worked fine.... good luck

My phone got wet in the washer machine

When that happened to my phone I was able to open it immediately and set it in an area near my oven to help dry it out. It worked for my samsung phone but not my razor. The samsung was in a front loading washer whereas the razor fell in a (clean)toilet bowl. That may be the biggest difference.

Phone got wet

I had a very similar problem when I dropped my phone in a mudpuddle. I could not get it to work at all and I think the connector that is used by the hotsync cable was shorted with muddy water because it kept trying to rngage the hotsync operation even without a cable.

I disassembled the phone as much as possible and got some distilled water and rinsed the unit very thoroughly It is important to use distilled water because distilled water has all of the mineral content removed and is non conductive.

After that, you can dry the unit with a hair dryer, but it is unlikely you will be able to get the water out of the phone that way very effectively. I had access to an oven that had accurate controls and set it at 180 degrees and left the phone in there for several hours.

When I reassembled and turned it on, everything worked fine again. The only thing I noticed was that the backlight was less uniform than before. I think that was because of some of the contaminants from the mudpuddle that I could not rinse free. It is barely noticeable, and I have been runnig great for 6 months since.

I hope this helps...
