"check disc" error

My used Pioneer PDR-555 has "check disc" after recording session stop. I've tried different audio CD's and brands. No issue with playback.

SOURCE: wont record on blank pc disks!

I just ran into the same issue- 9 times out of 10 it's the disc- you have to be VERY CAREFUL when buying discs tthat say CDR or CD-RW but they have to say AUDIO or MUSIC on the packet - remember there are diuffernt linds of blank discs out there and they all do different jobs- read the above again to be clear

I have a Pioneer PDR 609 CD recorder. I put a disc in and it says Pro disc din unlock.

You can only use Music CD-R with the logo of Digital Audio, no regular CD-R for data will not work with any CD Recordable, it doesn't matter the brand of CDs. Remember that, I have a player like your and Sony, and that's the catch.

My Pioneer PDR 555-RW keeps reading Mon1 or Moni when I try to record my CD from my mixing board. I need to send this wedding music, and it is trapped in my board. HELP!

That's just a MONITOR indication. It means you can SEE the audio from the selected input on the record level meters for adjustment or other reasons. It won't prevent you from recording. Set your levels then hit RECORD, let it set itself up and calibrate to the disc, start your source and hit Play or Pause to start recording to the disc.

Yes. Iif you get an audio CD recorder like a Pioneer PDR-509, HHB-30, for example, you can record from any number of sources onto a CD in as many sessions as you like until you finalize it.

Can't get it to record

I experienced this problem a long time ago, i believe that it was because i tried to use a normal data cd-rw but the unit only reads audio discs. It has to be a cd-rw for audio only (will say cd-rw audio on the disc, whereas if it is a data disc it will simply say cd-rw.) Hope this helps..

Wont record on blank pc disks!

I had the same problem and found that I was using the wrong type of CDs. If you look on the CD you have to use the CD that says Compact disc digital audio Recordable or Compact disc digital audio Rewrittable. After I used the Digital ones I could record on it. I then tried the CD on the PC and it worked. You can look on the top of the unit and see the information if you still have it. Hope this helps you.

Pioneer PDR-609 CD Recorder. - My recorder frequently fails in the middle of a recording -it stops recording and says 'check disk' in the display. I have several different types of disc (I usually use TDK...

I don't have a stand-alone cd recorder but like many people I have burned discs on the computer and had many disappointments. While some disc drives are clearly better than others, for no apparent reason, there does seem to be more reject discs with some software than others.
Particularly disappointing is the Nero burning software that performs well when it is first installed but seems to deteriorate fairly quickly with every computer restart. I know nothing about such things so I am only guessing the cause might be that Nero displaces some Windows components and Windows seems to try repairing itself when booting.

Like most things these days, especially digital things, your cd recorder is in fact a computer that depends entirely on the software loaded into it, software that could degrade or become corrupted over time.
While it is possible the disc drive (laser perhaps) has become less potent it wouldn't be unreasonable to suspect the software and I suggest you contact Panasonic.
It is probable, like many things requiring software, early versions were found to have problems and would be periodically updated.

Pioneer PDR-W839 Jammed Disc Changer (previously posted)

hello poopig1, after further review, I meant to describe this: look for a pinhole in the area of the CD tray to insert a pin...similar to the same pinhole you see on a PC's cd player to eject the tray manually. If there is none, then try this: Open the cover and find the motor that, when turning, performs the tray ejection. Then, turn that motor by hand until the entire tray (or cartridge) is ejected. Then power up and observe the events.
