I had the same problem. Two things were bad. One was the shock absorber and must be changed out as a pair. Also one of the springs that supports the tub was broken. My guess is that the spring broke and the shock failed shortly after. since it was more easily accessible and appeared to be the problem, I replaced the broken shock. Only to find the spring was broken too. After replacing the spring, its worked fine for a couple of years. Obviously I'm looking at this site because I'm having another problem, but this time I think it is the tub bearing.

Grab the agitator at the base and attempt to rotate it clockwise and counter clock wise. It should remain firmly in place. If there is movement the agitator spline is worn.
This is your Agitator:

It does not come with the fabric dispenser. It has to be ordered seperately. You should be able to transfer you old one to the new one if you do have to replace the agitator.
Besides the agitator the drive bell can also be the source of the noise. It is located under the agitator.

This part is the most likely cause of the noise.
Thanks for using FixYa.

There are little items called "dogs" that keep the drum in balance. You can view a diagram of the machine and parts at partselect . com.
Bad bearings could also due this, but you would see oil/grease on the floor and chunks of the couple laying around. The dogs stay in place but will wear out.

If front load check the inner drum If it is loose at all you have a lot of problem . Very expensive.
