After what appeared to be virus issues, I tried installing new CDs just purchased from Acer for the Aspire 3680. The restore failed with reason 0xd000001e. I get a black screen immediately after the Acer splash screen. I tried Alt-F10 as mentioned in your articles, but that does nothing. I'm no longer sure if I'm dealing with a virus, wrong CDs from the manufacturer, or hardware failures. I'm desperate for suggestions! my laptop was downloadin vista update 3 but it took all night to install an was still on 0% mean while our power had gone out an my laptop run out of battery before it was finished wen i turned my laptop bak on it had all these system errors so i restored to my oldest restore point which was after the damage was already done so i decided to restore vista with back up discs i had made wen i first bought my laptop an it got to disc 3 come up with error 0xd000001e press ok to restart computer an wen i restarted my laptop nothin would load gets to where log on would be an just has a blank black screen wat can i do.
