Unable to control audio after playing a DVD using HDMI

This is a brand new Sony Bravia 52V5100 and a Sony DVP-NS728H DVD player. Thins work fine until just after you watch a movie on the DVD player. Afterwards the volume is stuck at whatever level you left the movie with. Any future attempts to change it with either remotes or the side buttons just displays "Volume -+" and a blue "I" in the lower left corner. I tried applying Sonys latest firmware update which did help the contrast adjusting on its own but not the the audio issue. If I restore the TV to factory settings the volume again works fine until you watch a DVD. I have tried unplugging the HDMI, resetting the audio settings on the TV, watching another DVD etc. with no luck. The volume control does work the first time you are watching the DVD but after that it is gone.

For whatever reason this was posted under a theater system. I am just using the TV's built in speakers.

I found the problem after reading a post on this site. Last thing I used was DVD player so disconnected DVD Sony player, followed the factory reset instructions and now the volume works normally! It was the DVD player. Thank you so much for the info and lead.

You may have a damaged remote circit or reciver on the dvd player or tv, look for a phone number on the instructions book to call and see if you can send it in to have it checked out

How do i program my sony dvd player dvp.sr200p to work on my philips tv

No special programming is required. Connect the DVD player to the TV using an HDMI cable. Note which input jack you used on the TV (example: HDMI 1 or HDMI 2, etc.) Turn on the DVD player and insert a DVD disc and play it. Turn on the TV and select the input you used to connect the DVD player (example: HDMI 1 or HDMI 2, etc.). You should now see and hear the DVD disc playing. Most settings are pre-set at the factory so everything will work without adjustment. However, both the DVD player and the TV have a Menu where you can adjust settings for picture, sound, etc. if desired.

Why does my sony DVP display "No Disc" for every disc; when they play fine in any other player?

Sony tend to have a notorious disc lasers... couple of things you might want to try..

1. clean the lens using a standard Lens cleaning CD.
2. Try playing a CD (music) instead of DVD (if this works...it is likely that the lens is not reading DVD)

I need a multiregion hack for a Sony DVP-NS728H

Yep it can be done but not using the players orignal handset and it is tricky . I did my friends player last night . See this thread for tips as you will need something that can be programmed with the correct hex codes to simulate the sony service remote http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/sony-dvp-ns718h/10137

. This will work on your player to although it is a thread about the 718 model. I used my PSP to do it on both.

My Sony Bravia KDL-52V5100 has garbked sound or no sound intermittently throughout viewing. This happens on multiple HDMI inputs through both my upconvert dvd player and the HD cable box. It is corrected...

I'm seeing the same issue. Only thing I've seen is a firmware update but according to my Bravia, I am already running the current firmware.
Was considering doing the update anyway...re-installing it so-to-speak.
Having trouble finding any other resolutions online.

Try scrolling thru the TV's video inputs. When you get the right one, the circuit will automatically recognize it and play provided it's connected properly
