Well it doesn't seem to be recognised when i plug it into my usb onmy lap top and doesnt seem to be charging

Ive had this too.. All you need to do is unplug it. Then use a pin and press the RESET button on the bottom or side not the microphone on the top. Then plug the USB cable back into your laptop and into your CZ (Creative Zen) On the screen of the Zen it should say Docked. And your laptop should recognise your Zen as new hardware. Hope this helps. ;;

My laptop is not recognising my Creative Zen touch MP3

Try this, i used this for my sansa, but the problem you are having is very similar.

Start - (right click)my computer - manage - device manager

It should be under "Other Devices" Right click - Update driver - Yes this time only - Install software automatically

Away you go, should recognize it as a portable device and install the drivers for it correctly.

Zen MP3 player not recognised by my Laptop

Try different USB ports......some devices need faster USB ports......

But first, install the installation CD it came with. (if you haven't)

If you have already, go to My computer and look for a Picture of the Zen. Then Click on it and it will take you to the screen you SHOULD get when you plug it in.

-OR-
Go to start. Click Run. Type in either E;/ or F:/. this is the manual way of accessing it. E; and F; are common external Drive names. Hope this helped

Can't Add files to mp3 after reinstalling-device not found.

I have an older ZEN, so I'm not sure if I have Creative Media Source 5, but mine never worked really well either. My Windows Media Player recognizes mine, so I just sync to that library. I even have gotten a new laptop since I got my ZEN and I never downloaded anything, I just connected it to Window's Media. I hope that's helpful!
