Paper comes out torn and see loose piece of foam

OK
Remove the ink cartridges and print-head then remove the long skinny piece of foam and wash it and dry it - don't wring it out but press it between sheets of paper towel. You'll see lots of ink come out of it.
Using more paper towel, clean out all the ink you can find inside the printer - there will be lots. Look at the end where the print-head parks and you'll see 2 more sponge pieces. Don't remove them but use plenty of towel to absorb as much ink as you can from them.
Once you think everything is clean look for any loose bits of paper inside and remove them. Then, refit the now dry piece of foam. It's not as hard as it looks as the thing is shaped so that it will only fit in one way. Make sure it is properly seated then refit the print head and the carts and switch on.
I've had this happen twice in the last year on my ip5200 - particularly when using scrap paper.

Canon Pixma ip5200. Inner cover open

The inner cover is the part where the CD print tray goes. When you look at the front of the printer you should see CANON written above the output paper tray - just like in the picture next to you post. If you can't see the word - just fold up the flap.

I have a new pixma ip5200 inkjet, never used and it just comes up

Dear hemi1223,
It seems that the printer has problem with feeding mechanism. Here are possibilities: some materials block paper end so it does not reach paper cam sensor, paper feed sensor error, broken paper left inside printer and sheet feeder part broken. I suggest you to take your printer to the nearest service center.

Regards,

the issue here is whether your canon can handle that size of paper. is it running on the manual insert tray?

when you choose paper source, you'll need to identify where the paper is coming from..

try that..

CANNON IP5200

According to the service manual, that is an 'ASF (cam) sensor error' and solution being to replace the 'Sheet feed unit'.
