What is the error POW 5 on a marantz sr 7500

My marantz sr7500 shows error code pow5

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

I would guess POW indicates some fault with the power. Has it worked before with this hookup with no error code? Charlie

A pow5 error can mean that there is 5v missing, however you will get this error all so if you have a bad transistors in your audio output section

I have a Marantz SR-5600 surround Receiver. It has been shutting off the volume at various intervals recently. When I attempt to turn it back on a display reads " Check POW5

The POW5 fault indication means that the 5Volt power supply grid is not OK. The unit needs to be repaired by a professional repair engineer. No user servicable parts inside.

There is no fuses for the speakers. Check setup. If the receiver has 7.1 channel input try to connect a source there so you can check output (amp) section and the speakers.

Marantz SR7500 Home receiver, Digital CD will not play

Verify that the digital output is enabled. This is a switchable output. A brown-out or other power isseu may have shut it down.
Get back to us if that is not the case.

What does this Error Message mean?

hello AuburnCE, After 4 years of joy my Marantz SR8200 receiver also shows this message from time to time - after 1h of operation or so. Then it is hanging (like a PC ;o). Taking it of from the electricity network for a moment resolves the problem until the next POW 05 hang usually a fiew days later. I brought the receiver to an authorized Marantz maintenance and repair center twice now and they were not able to reproduce the error. They said this has directly or indirectly to do with the power supply unit. They also called marantz. For me it appears that this is not an internal receiver problem IN MY CASE. I think I there might be a relationship to zapping on my Topfield SAT receiver via power supply network as the connection is optical. Or my dimmerunit for the light. Unfortunately I do not have a separate electric circuit for Audio/Video and all other electrical devices. and dimmer units are well known to cause problems in the power supply chain - e.g. like noise in your audio package. Please note: the experts told me: Check POW 05 can have other (receiver internal) causes also. Above is just my suspicion 8as a non-expert) for my case . Regards, Fred
