It sounds like your screen inverter has just gone >bang< unfortunately.
Most screens inside use 2 main circuit boards, and you are most likely going to have to change one of them.
It's possible also for it to have been just the backlight bulb making the loud pop noise too. The inverter may have given out too much power and blown the bulb (a lot like you hear when a house bulb goes bang).
If you can't actually hear any TV sounds (normal sounds like music, voices etc. when they should be there), then it means the problem is more serious, and would need a specialist repair place to check out the electrical circuit inside.
If the picture remains on the display and just the backlight is gone, then most likely the inverter is bad and would need to be replaced. In this case the screen would be worth the repair, you may take the display to a local repairer to get the inverter replaced.
If you lose picture aswell (if you can't see any picture on the screen even under a flashlight etc) the problem is worse than a inverter board. the display may not be worth the repair.
When you said "huge crack on the inside" you mean the screen? if so let me tell you that the only way to fix it, is replacing the screen, really expensive, like $800-1000 just parts. My recomendation is that you pick up the phone and play it hard with Samsung, they dont want to fix it under warranty because 90% of broken screens are due to End User fault.
you likely need a new tv. on the insides the audio pieces are a lot tougher than the delicate pieces that create the picture for you. if it was dropped and something hit it and it cracked losing your picture, I am pretty sure the tv is toast.
If the double images are located at the bottom on one side, you might have cracked the mirror inside the set and it has been displaced making the picture in that area bad (especially if the rest of the picture is OK)
Sounds like maybe some bad solder connections in the deflection area, If I remember these monsters correctly they are hard to dissassemble with lots of wires, the culprit is probably a solder crack around the horizontal section or the power supply for the horizontal. Might require a technician for service, if you attempt yourself, use lots of masking tape to label your wires.
