Sony NW-E407 hard drive problem

Hello there,
I wonder/hope can you help me!
I recently bought a car cd player with mp3 capabilities. I could not connect the mp3 with the device so I asked the makers of the cd player for assistance.
The guy told me that I would have to re-format my sony from FAT32 to FAT, & gave me the instructions on how to do so (right click on mp3 icon once connected to the pc, click on format, & just change the settings)
But this is where my problem occured, now everything from my sony is wipped & "Format Error" is all that appers on my display screen. I cannot download new tunes or do anything with my sony after making this one change.
Of course this was a major mistake that I made but I was trusting the guy that advised me! Please please can you help me!!

I first formated the sony player and after that I had some format error pictures on the screen. So I went to Sony website to check it out. The results came as

Press and hold the menu button for like half a sec till the menu screen pops up, rotate shuffle switch to "advanced menu" till you see "format", press the play button to confirm.

Its all in the sony website.

After formating if you havent updated your sony software I advise to do so it wont take very long.
Happy listening

You can't change the format type to FAT32 on this media player. don't use a usb cable to input your audio. instead, try to use one of those cables that has the same end as a headphone jack on both sides. that will just send an audio signal to your stereo and you'll need to change songs with the mp3 player.

to reformat your mp3 player:
hold down the menu button -> go to advanced -> go to format -> click yes. (the song change thing is up and down and the play button is okay). hope this helps.

Connect MP3 Player To Computer and Transfer MP3 Songs From Computer To MP3...

To successfully transfer songs either MP3 or WMA files to your MP3 player follow these steps.

1) If your device came with a CD insert this into your computer and follow the on-screen instructions.

If the device has no CD most PCs will recognise the device and update the drivers automatically once you have connected it via USB cable.

2) Connect the device to the PC using USB cable. With many players this is the only means of charging the device.

3) On your computer go to 'Start' - 'My Computer' and you should see the device listed as a USB Mass Storage or Removable Disk.

4) Click and highlight the songs you want to transfer to the MP3 player. You can either drag and drop them directly into the USB Mass Storage Folder shown in Step 3 or you can right click the song file and select 'Send To' USB Mass Storage Device.

5) The songs are now on your MP3 player.

6) Disconnect the player from the USB cable. The player will take a moment to update and you can now play the songs on the player.

Note: In order to transfer music files from a CD these must first be converted to MP3 in order for the player to be able to play them. To do this you can use Windows Media Player to 'Rip' the songs onto your computer in MP3 format. From here use the steps above to transfer them onto the player.

If your MP3 player has video capability these files will need to be converted in to a format that the player can handle. To do this, use the software that came with the device on the CD or you may use a free converter like this one if the original software is lost.

Hope this Tip has helped.

Hello i just bought a phillips mp3 cd played, just want to know if its an actual mp3 player or just plays cd from mp3 file

Phillips does not make a hybrid cd / mp3 device. If you are able to insert a cd into the device and play it then it can only play audio cds and audio cds with mp3s on it. That is to say, it is not your standard MP3 player like an iPod etc. It is a cd player that can play mp3 cds.

Hello, i recently bought a coby mp707, i would like to know how to create more than one playlist on my mp3, so far i have only created one and cannot create another. need response asap

Same here, I bet the playlist you have is the on called "My List." I tried everything, going to 'My Computer', 'Coby Media Manager' nothing works. I think that is the only playlist this mp3 is capable of making. Someone prove us wrong please!

I bought this MP3 player on ebay and have recently just received it. My problem is that none of my computers cant seem to pick up this device at all. It came with a small CD for driver and manual but even...

Try a different cable to connect the unit to the computer. I had a similar problem and got solved when I used a different cable. I used a cable from a digital camera that had the same connections.
Not working on several computers gives you a clue - is not connecting at all, and is not the driver. Once you have a good cable it will be recognized without having to install any drivers.
That's how I solved my problem, maybe is the same.
Hope this helps.

MP3 Player

There are two possible options (these are not guaranteed to work):
1) Go to, enter your mp3 player model number in the search tab and see if a new driver has been developed for this device to make it compatible with Vista
2) With your mp3 player plugged in to the computer, go to Start --> Control Panel --> Systema nd Maintenance --> Device Manager
3) Find your mp3 player on the list and double-click the device; click on driver tab and then update driver - select the option that allows you to search the computer AND the internet for the driver (make sure you are connected to the internet BEFORE selecting this option); if you do not see your exact mp3 player name on the list, look for a similar looking name on the list such as "MTP Device"; also, look for devices with a yellow exclamation mark next to them - this is a sign of a device needing a repair or driver update

My sony VGN N220E does not detect external devices

Try reinstalling your usb ports.

1. goto desktop, right click on my computer and press manage.
2. goto the device manager, find the usb devices / ports.
3. Make sure you are useing a ps2 mouse / keyboard since if your mouse/keyboard is connected to usb they will stop working untill your pc is restarted and the devices are reinstalled.
4. Uninstall all usb devices.
5. after all usb devices are uninstalled reboot the pc.

If the problem is with your drivers ( your pc detects the mp3 player but no drivers found) Download the newest drivers for your product and operateing system from the vendors website.

Vm9510 wont play cd/mp3 formats

Does it say it will play MP3 somewhere? This is a recent innovation with CD players Regular players do no include MP3 in the firmware.
