Busy signal My DS6222-5 is recording a busy signal after a message is left. If I call my vetch phone from my cell phone and leave a message and then hang my cell phone up, my vetch says the line is still in use and records a busy signal behind the voicemail message? Any suggestions? I am using this with the new US Cellular Home Phone device.

SOURCE: My phone lines keep on crossing!

If you are in a private residence go to the demarcation box and unplug the phone jack that connects the line to your home. Plug your phone directly into the jack which is now looking at the line and has eliminated your house wiring from the circuit. Make an outgoing call and have someone call you back. If the trouble persists, the trouble has just been proven to be on the line which is a phone company problem. Busy signals occure when a short is detected on the line so you may have cable trouble in your area. Thank You. Jerry

SOURCE: My vetech cordless phone is not working

DO you have a 2 line model? If so check and make sure the conf (conference) button is not pushed as it will keep the line off-hook forever. Hope this helps!

I accidentally deleted my important messages from my vetch answering machine, is there any possible way to retrieve them? The voices of my parents who both passed last year were included.

Not likely, unfortunately. You might try using Google to see if you find any suggestions that help. One advice I saw was to disconnect the telephone line because new messages would record over the old messages on some types of answering machines..

It would help to know the manufacturer and model to help determine what is inside it that might be taken out and checked by a technician. Do you have someone to help open it up if needed to check inside?

Is it a Vtech and not a vetch?

Nortel startalk one of my extensions keeps getting calls and when answered there is just a busy signal on the other end. What is causing this?

If answering live call and is busy signal on the other end then could be a recording from far end....call a tech in.

If voice mail message is busy signal it could be same as above or Disconnect Supervsision is not programmed on the lines and with the carrier.....this detects when caller hangs up then system knows to hang up, if does not hangup then you get busy signal.

If I get this AT&T 1739 answering machine will it retreive messages when I am on the phone with someone else, also can I record my own message on it for my business

Without call waiting or a second line, callers will get a busy signal if you're already on a call. This happens at the switchboard; it doesn't matter what type of answering machine you have because the second call doesn't get that far.
You can record your own message on the 1739 but, as mentioned above, if you're already on a call then the second call never gets that far.

I have a Sony cordless phone/digital answering machine (model SPP-A941) that seems not to hang up after recording a message. As a result, it may not pick up subsequent calls. When I play a new message,...

Before you mess around I would suggest that you get an audio recorder, hook it up to the Sony speaker and record for posterity the family keepsakes. Then ...............

Will my answering machine work with my u-verse

Unfortunately it may or may not be fully compatible. First you will need to make sure that all call forwarding features are turned off for your voice service so that calls will not go to voice mail before your machine can pick up. Now is where the issue of compatibility comes in, most answering machines continue recording messages until a certain amount of silence is detected on the line and the recording then stops. With some machines the period of time before the recording stops is too long, when the other party hangs up the phone the systems puts out a busy dial tone signal which the machine may mistake as a continuous message and use up all the space for messages on a single call. This of course means no other messages can be recorded till the previous message has been deleted. So to see if your machine is fully compatible means you must simply try and see.

Voice mail issue

Here is what is suppose to happen. Once you leave a message at Rogers, they are to send your phone a "stutter dial tone" signal back to your phone. When you phone gets this signal, it is to light your messag light. So we need to figure out if Rogers is sending the signal, and if your light is working. So, leave yourself a message. Give Rogers a minute or two to send the signal. Pick up your phone to make a call. Do you hear a "stuttery" type dial tone? If not, it sounds as if the Rogers system is not providing the signal. Okay, if your light is not on, then lets test the light by taking the Rogers VM out of the equation. Go to your Panasonic answering machine menu, and turn it on, then turn the number of rings set to 1, and save that. Now call the phone. It should answer after a ring or two, and your call should never make it to Rogers AM. Leave a message and see if your Panasonic answering machine takes the message and lights the light. If it does not light the light even though your message was recorded and saved, then you may have a bad light. If it lights the light, go back into your menu and turn the machine off, and look for any settings regarding using the "telephone company voice mail" or review your message light settings, etc. Hope this helps
