99 percent of the time the humming can only come from a defective powerboard, before it dies, you should consult your warranty. Otherwise you can order the parts and replace yourself.

If you feel comfortable opening the TV and know where not to touch, it seems reasonable to replace the board. On the other hand the new HDTVs are really coming down in price. Tough call. In my case my 32" WEGA failed (also a board) . I replaced it with a 32" LCD set.
Tv power supply board have input and output high voltages issues. That the board, where the power a/c cord plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
If you can handle it then check the 12VDC supply filtration. I mean to say that you have to confirm that the 12VDC is coming with stability and no noise inside it. The filtration work is being performed by the capacitors in the circuitry. Check the capacitor condition in main board please. If it is plague (bad capacitor) then try by replacing it. The sound can be mainly heard through speakers and it most probably caused by sound processing area presents in main board. This kind of thing can be eliminated by changing the main board.
1. I would first make sure that correct "INPUT" setting is registered. 2. Try a different input source such as VCR, DVD or CD. 3. Connect a pair of audio RCA cable to all the VIZIO set's audio inputs one at a time and touch the center tip while the set is powered ON and the input is set to the corresponding seting. If audio circuit is OK you should hear a hum with at least one of the input settings.. 4. If still no audio, then it maybe the audio circuit board needs to be checked.
My 37 inch vizio did the same thing. go to your menu screen on the tv and go sound. My tv has an option to turn speakers on/off. Once I turned my speakers off and the back on again everything worked great. hope I helped! if I did please let me know! youtube.com/xniax1
Problem sounds like ignition noise. Depending on the condition of applainces and electrical distribtion box (Fused/circuit breakers) on the premises. Could also be entering through outside source. The best way to find out if this actually causing your problem is to take a portable radio and tune around 550mhz on the AM band. If you hear a buzz or crackle tune radio to the loudest hum or buzz, then walk around aiming towards the more signal or louder it gets until you find the source. Hope this helps.
our brand new Vizio 32 HDTV has poor sound quality, so irritating in it's flat muffled character that I can't watch it. My electrical engineer husband as attempted to change it (he does not hear the difference between the Vizio and our two Sony...there is a BIG difference) by turning off the surround sound. But to me nothing has changed. What do you think? it sounds a little bit like an old radio or a broadcast from inside a closet. Hmmm
likely supply failure or shorted pannel driver. u should be able to unplug the pannel boards from the power supply. if the buzzing stops than its the pannel boards otherwise its supply.
where is the humming coming from? what model is it?
