Get the Diagnostic download for your 6500 from HP.com. It will trace the problem for you. Check you power supply to see if it is operational. Press all connections in tight.

Disconnect the power cord of the printer from the electrical outlet.
Wait at least 30 seconds.
Press and hold the # and 3 buttons while reconnecting the power cord.
When the printer turn on, release both buttons.
This will reset the printer.
Try reconnecting a control panel. In the video below, we show how to fix the control panel, there you will see where the ribbon cord needs to be reconnected. Also, check the logic board connection if this doesn't work.
blown power supply.... I have the same tv... but with a fault in the main board leaving me with a flashing image. I have a power supply that's good and you have a main board that's probably good.....???

Check the power-supply.
If it has a separate power "brick", take a multimeter, and check the output voltage/amperage.
If it just has a "plain" power-cord between the wall-outlet and the printer, then the power-supply "inside" the printer has failed.
It might be cheaper to buy a replacement printer than it would be to hire a qualified technician to trouble-shoot, find/buy a replacement power-supply, reassemble, and test.
1. Unplug the power supply from the wall outlet.
2. Unplug the power supply from the back of the printer.
3. Wait at least 20 seconds, then plug in the supply back into the wall outlet.
4. Plug in the power supply back into the printer.
5. Press the power button to turn the printer on.
